jgnat, that's why I don't have faith. To me it seems obvious that no god is responsible for neither the "good" nor the "bad" things because if a god existed he/she/it would care of his creatures and wouldn't allow them to suffer in any way.
Who would create something and then sit back and relax (7th day rest?) and watch it going down because he had a bigger plan in mind. I think that's hillarious! No parents would do that with their kids (exept JW and some other maniacs!)

I would say that if you have faith in god then you should also trust him/her/it to always be able to know and deliver what's best for you because god must be supposed to have a broader view than you as small human could ever have. For example something that seems to be a bad thing might change into a good thing in the future. A bad experience for example can have a good output in that it might teach you something important.

I haven't posted for some time but every now and then I come by and read and I would like to give my 2 ct. on this:
When I was younger whenever I heard about something bad in the news, may it be a hurricane, a war, an earthquake or whatever it started creeping on me that maybe they were right and that this was another sign of the soon to expect end. Sometimes I was scared to hell.
But over the years I realised that there are always different interpreting possibilities. Even more possibilities for interpretation are given when you start to combine things with each other. It is a bit like gambling. Which combination of numbers will win this week?
Another good example is Nostradamus. He wrote things that people over the years combined and interpreted in hundreds of different ways.
So while one could easily interprete and explain everything that happens with the JW-doctrin, one could also just as easily come to five or more different explanations.

Well, I guess that's because the fds claims to be the only correct interpreters of the bible wether it's about shunning, harmageddon, 607, christian love or whatever. Whatever they teach it all stems some way or another from the bible. But what do they make of it?

i can't believe the new levels of cruelty possible within families who are jws.. a friend on this board who i've known since i was a baby practically has managed to get me a picture of my little sister who i haven't seen for 8 years - the one who i've mentioned my dad said was working on the bethel quick build team.
the one who i've described my fears that she and my younger sister are staying single until armageddon.
I got this overwhelming mind picture of this family gorging on a feast and the dregs were falling. You chained to the table leg, grabbing at the crumbs and collecting them to make a mouthful.

But I guess you better rant here than over there. I tend to agree with pubsinger. They're perverts. They would love to hear you screaming, shouting and calling names because it would make them feel superior to you. It would show them how worldly you really are and how right they were to stop connecting with you. Keep smiling and seem untouched - that will really irritate them.

i once talked to a jw about disfellowshipping and was curious to how can this be showing a christly love when you all out turn your back on them.
he gave me an answer about rightousness and unrightrousness having no fellowship (which is biblical) but it didnt make sense to me.
didnt seem applicable in many ways.
Anewme, I definitely can't agree with you on this. I have seen too much. I also suppose, this forum probably wouldn't exist - and wouldn't have such high maintenance - if the said method wasn't used by Jehovahs Witnesses.
But you sound happier now than before. If this is what came out of it for you than that's all one can ask for.
