  can anyone tell me why this practice was stopped.

  i was told the reason for the guards was to prevent apostates from "attacking" anyone up there and disrupting the program.

  has anyonne witnessed an "attack" of apostates gone wild?

  looking at how the jw's treat sisters compared to brothers, it would seem that the jw's think that men are superior to women.. is this what the bible really says?.

  The bible (which at the end of the day was written by men) advocates that women should be in subjection to their husbands and this could leave the sexist male to conclude that he is superior; perhaps even this scripture was written by a sexist male? who knows?, subjection is subjective isnt it and to many different people will mean different things.

  Its important to realise that we have the increased intelligence these days to realise that women are equal to men not subservient, not better, not superior but equal. Anything that supports such a view gets my show of hand.

  Divorcee but currently living with partner and getting married (again) in August 2005.

  I have two cats Millie and Tigs, both tabbies...brother and sister. Tigs is the fat one that eats all the pies catfood...much like his owner really...

  I work in a law firm and specialise in Employment and Discrimination but have outside professional/academic interests such as Child Protection and Human Rights. Keeps me very busy reading...what would the elders say now if they knew I had read anything other than their theocratic brainwashing material?

  My hobbies include reading..fishing and badminton when i am feeling more active and can pull myself away from this PC.

  I currently do not have any children as i wouldnt be a good dad to them right now...but they are in my plans...somewhere in the foreseeable future.

  Musically I play the guitar with more enthusiam than skill and enjoy listening to anything and everything right from rock to classical.

  Me in a nutshell really....

  i'm really concerned for my sister and her husband.

  they both got df'd last thurs.

  and i found out today cause my mom called crying histerically telling me the news.

  Freedomfrog your post is upsetting and makes me angry given your situation; Jesus associated with far worse people who committed far worse sins than celebrating christmas...such as prostitutes and tax collectors...etc...the WTS conveniently forget this.

  With regards to your sister being disfellowshipped on the grounds she has been I find it totally unacceptable that this should go on...another poster has suggested going to the media on this issue and I wholeheartedly agree...even if celebrating christmas was wrong you would have expected some CHRISTIAN compassion from the elders on the judicial committee and their failures in this regard demonstrate a complete lack of moral fibre.

  I am sorry for your sisters suffering and yours too by the sounds of things; try and offer your sister some encouragement in that she can rely on her remaining family (you) to help and support her; whilst her husband might not be assertive this would be an ideal time to encourage him to take the lead in rebuilding your sisters self esteem.

  I have said it on numerous posts, but the whole principle of shunning is morally irreprehensible and totally unchristian in the majority of instances. Take heed from this experience and really ask yourself whether this was an act of love.

  Prayers and thoughts are with you at this time...try to keep positive.

  Napster and the Workaround - Any more legal?

  so napster is now charging 14.95/month for membership services, and its basicly, download all you can and want to in that month.

  however, the files are wma files protected by digital rights management.

  meaning, as soon as you stop paying for the napster service, they stop working.

  Well i can see both sides of the story actually....i do download and quite often converting to MP3...just dont tell Napster or Lars Ulrich for that matter...G
