Weird Logic
by loosie inlet's hear the weirdest comment or suppossed logical thought you've ever heard a witness say.. i'll start: out in service once a sis and her son were in the same car group as i was.
he was having a nose bleed and told his mom that the blood was running down the back of his throat.
his mother said " well don't swallow it yo uknow how jehovah feels about blood don't you!".

I've been robbed and cheated....!!!!
There wasnt JW cruises when i was younger...we just had to put up with Centre Parcs which after a while became bland because too many prying eyes...oh the good old days...if it wasnt centre parcs they tried to stop us going bowling on a sunday night....because apparently some rebels were drinking under age...imagine that...teenagers drinking under age...if the attendance rose about 5 it became classed as a large gathering and so were
discouragedbanned.Didnt stop us though...
DB74 of the still sore about not having the opportunity to go on a JW
orgycruise class. -

as horrid as this sounds my friend...you cure it by moving on...try to occupy your mind on things positive....I know it sounds like an article from the Young People Ask but you will move on...youve got time on your hands...and plenty more women to woo... Good luck...

"I prayed for you"
by Scully inif you aren't a "believer", does it bother you when someone says "i'll pray for you" or "i prayed for you"?.
one of my colleagues is an incredibly kind and sweet person, and i know she says it because she believes she's doing something good on my behalf.
i always say "thank you for thinking of me", because i know that's the spirit she's intending to convey and that she cares about the situation i'm in vis-a-vis my jw relatives, but she knows i no longer believe in god (at least not in the sense that she does) - i wonder does she think that a few prayers are going to change my mind?

I would normally be quite flattered should anyone have said this in the past especially given the normally this is a genuine sentiment; however I was in the supermarket the other week and happened to come across someone I knew when I was a dub and they spoke to me...(unlike some more recently) and when i was a dub we didnt have that much to do with each other so was quite shocked when she actually spoke to me and quite impressed that she had taken the effort to ask how i was keeping.
At the tail end of the conversation she said those immortal words...'I've been praying for you'.... it struck me as odd to be honest given we hadnt spoken in near on 8 years. So I asked when she had prayed...and what she had prayed about...I swear I havent seen someone look so uncomfortable in all my life and whilst i felt a little guilty for not being gracious and polite it struck me that this sentiment is overused especially so when people have clearly not been praying for you and like this lady would have had no need to pray for you.
If people are genuine then alls well but when they arent like always this is bloody annoying and a completely superfluous comment to make.

Leaving the Truth - Songs to Destroy Your Faith By
by tetrapod.sapien inas some of you may know, i am a recently self-deconverted jw.
the experience of deconversion was at times emotional.
i have compiled a list of songs i would listen to on those emotionally turbulent occasions.

I remember this time all to well...I also turned to my music for solace and for inspiration when times were hard
Here is a select list of the tracks i associate with the feelings then and the feelings now about leaving.
- REM - Losing my Religion because the lyrics are like a cry for privacy in an hour of need and totally in accordance with my feelings of being at the end of my tether.
- The Levellers - Sell Out again the lyrics make mention of being sold down the river and thats exactly how i felt upon exit.
- Metallica - Nothing else matters no real lyrical relationship but i guess at this point in my life...nothing else did matter other than what i was going through.
- Depeche Mode - Blashemous Rumours because god has got a sick sense of humour if he or she exists
- Marrilion - The Short Straw no real reason...just a great melancholy track.
- U2 - I still havent found what im looking for because ive not despite searching the highest mountain...in a figurative sense.
Just a few for ya

The Apprentice - Watchtower version
by catchthis inbeing a fan of the tv show the apprentice, i love to "play along" to see if my ideas would work with what the teams are tasked to accomplish.
many times, their ideas are totally off.
other times, the executives they are tasked with providing a presentation to feel that they had 'hit a home run.

Make the volunteers at bethel buy their own food each week from their expense allowance; the congregations can then open up a new contribution box entitled 'supporting our brothers in the printing work'. This creates two streams of income, one from the bethelites and two from the R&F....genius...cut me in for 20% of the profits.

Apologies for bad language
When I made the mistake of becoming a JW as a young adult I had built up a pretty healthy self esteem. Not arrogance, not conceit, but I felt good about myself. But, after a few years and a few rude awakenings, I realized that they are dangerous to your self-esteem. They actually begrudge you your self esteem and your god-given dignity. A person (male or female - but espectially female) with a healthy self esteem ticks them off. I don't know if it is jealousy or what.
I am of the same view...its like a threat to them isnt it...they cannot stand it and so they label you one that 'doesnt have the right heart condition'... in other words someone who wont put up with the shite they dish out....

The Evil Slave ...Oh..A Question, Also..
by Englishman inyears ago, when my pop was on one of his "serving where the need is great" missions, we finished up living in yeovil, down in darkest somerset.
the meetings were held in a 2 story rented hall.
the kingdom hall was on the lower floor.

I think its the latter Eman....although i think the Evil Slave is a great name for a breakaway cult from JW's...funnily enough i think both were as evil as the other....although none would admit it.
