Next time you talk to your pioneer friend just ask her if she's counting her time. I would imagine she is.
I encourage anyone talking to me to count their time. That's less time they will be bothering others.
IMO you can't be DF'd for knowing about the U.N. fiasco. They admit their involvement.
Just don't question the authority of the FDS to sit on their throne and you should be fine

"There is evidence that Jesus likely instituted specific times for gathering his followers together for worship." Of course, they backed this up with no scripture. A couple minutes later they were speaking as if this were fact - that Jesus instituted specific meeting times
Just my opinion, this is an issue because of low attendance at the meetings. Many including myself have questioned the excessive amount of time required to attend boring and repetitive meetings.
When I asked for scriptures to support all this wasted time I was quoted Matt. 24:45;
“Who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed over his domestics, to give them their food at the proper time”
Elder looked me in the eye and asked if I was questioning the FDS arrangement in suppling Jehovah's food "at the proper TIMES."

A faithful sister had her fridge breakdown last winter. She would put her perishables out in the snow. Sometimes animals would get into the food. She didn't want to approach the elders about her problem. When some of her friends found out her situation THEY approached the elders. Elders made a visit and told the sister to take her problem (the broken fridge) to Jehovah in prayer and to pray for a better job so she could afford a new fridge. Then left....... naturally counting their hours.
When her friends found out about the lack of support from the elders THEY chipped in and bought her a fridge. WTS donating to a charity???? Right, when Gehanna freezes over.

Anyone heard this new talk?
by Dogpatch ini got an email today that says:hi randy, i'm from wi and i have a question that deals with the talk act wisely in a senseless world given by cos. another former brother told me that he had heard this talk given in janesville, wi.
he took notes and knows that what he had heard was not imagined.
the talk dealt w/worldly people being conned by satan and therefore "willing victims" if they were raped, etc.

The talk was given in Janesville, Wi by CO named Ferring.( He is moving on....this was his last visit.) In Milwaukee, Wi one week later by a CO named Gezelle{sp?). It was positively the same outline. First speaker used a theme of willing victims throughout the entire talk.....second speaker made no mention of willing victims at all.
Terrorists were mentioned as willing victims as were those abused by priests since each had made a choice to be part of Satan's system of things. I know the talk was taped by someone. Trying to get a copy.

Interesting Talk by the CO today
by bronzefist inthought i would share some notes i took from a talk the co gave at the hall i attended today for the last time.
the talk was entitled ?act wisely in a senseless world.. .
the gist of the talk was that we are being conned by everyone in this system of things.. no mention of anyone in the organization doing this.. ?are we willing victims??.

Hey Blondie I almost did fall asleep. Except I've been having problems with a brother at this hall that screwed me over while working for him. The last comments the CO made was to personnaly praise this brother and suggest that anyone having a problem with him to take it to Jehovah in prayer.Been inactive for over 2 years. Now I am even more so.

The humility and listen part was because people have heard about inter-organization abuse and this will diffuse it somewhat.Admitting it's been a problem, but it has been taken care of. Yet not coming out and saying it.
The willing victims of abuse because they attended a "worldly" church is typical JW teaching in a way because we are taught that we suffer the consequences of our actions. Alluded to in this talk.
Lost t he part where he blamed an ABC program for imoral behaviour. You know which one.

?Are we willing victims??
He equated victims to terrorists. Those who justify their actions because they feel they have been wronged. Thereby doing what they will to gain justice for the wrong.
Then he mentioned that many have been abused by priests and consider themselves victims. Yet they were a part of that church so they could be considered willing victims.
He made no mention of abuse within the organization.
Instead he went on to say we need Humility to except the direction of the FDS and the WTS publications. And the Source of that direction Jehovah and his word the Bible. We have to attend all the meetings and Listen to what we are being taught. Not to question anything,. Otherwise we would be willing victims of Satan?s con game.
Then he mentioned we are NO part of the world. We would be sinning against Jehovah if we were to be involved in any way with trying to influence current events or trying to persuade against unjust government actions... No mention NGO involvement.
When on to say immoral behavior is all
Yadda yadda yadda about materialism. And everyone?s favorite closing line.
?Time is of the essence! There is NO time left.?

Do JWs Actually Have Less of a Divorce Rate Than Other Religions???
by minimus ini think so.
very few couples got divorced, even after they were caught with another person.i know that most that got df'd for straying still didn't get divorced----they tried to work it out.
have you seen this too?
-
bronzefist
As per my bio. Divorced after 26 from #1....seperated from #2 for 7 years.
It's obvious there are more couples getting divorced than ever before. Comparing failed JW marriages to other religions has little meaning if you take into account the stigma attached to divorce. The "only remarry in the lord clause" adds extra stress on the innocent one's decision of forgiving the mate in the case of adultry. Many are afraid of being left without support or the prospect of finding someone who will except their "excess bagage". They will try to "save" the marrige rather than divorce.
When the "light gets brighter" and "no fault" divorces and marriage outside the organization are allowed and not frowned upon.......there will be a stampede to divorce lawyers.
