I don't think they (GB/NY) feel there is a need to apologize for any of their mistakes as long as the vast majority of followers accept the "light grows brighter" side stepping they do. It always amazes me when I confront anyone within the congregation with proof of mistakes the famous "watchtower" wall goes up between me and them.

wife sweet pea and i are just starting the 2nd phase of our fade, which as we are already inactive and at 50% meeting attendance, means stopping going altogether.. supposing the elders decide they want to make a shepherding call - which we naturally decline - could they announce us as 'no longer known as jw's' for declining the call, not being at meetings and being inactive?.
what if we did take the shepherding call and told the elders we just weren't coming back, with no specific reasons given?
they would be bound to ask if we still believed the fds doctrine, which we could lie about use theocratic warfare strategy and say we were just a bit depressed, with money worries, struggling with the routine etc and would probably be back soon.. thoughts?.
Nope. Just be careful of what you say to anyone associated with the organization. I'm back to being a fader after getting my feet mucked up for 7 months. Be wary of the question, "You still believe the faithful and descret slave IS the faithful and descret slave don't you?" That was asked of me by two different set of elders.

Some will always be wearing those rose colored glasses even when they're neck deep in manure. However, the shine from years ago has worn off most who once wore those glasses. Any sane/rational person can only hide what is before their eyes constantly for so long before they stop believing the lies. Take away the anti-depressants from those still attending and see what happens attendence wise.

do you feel there was a "gap" between those who had more materially and those families or individuals who had less?.
example: did those who had "less" materially not get invited to private homes for get togethers as frequently or not at all?.

well, as per usual, the memorial talk bored the hell out of me, but i found it, in one way to be an improvement over last years when they had the most boring speaker on the planet there http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/111544/1.ashx this guy at least knew how to speak.
unfortunately, he didn't have much of a script to work with.. there was the mention of adam sinning and mankind needing a redeemer etc., no mention of when the israelites left egypt though.
that's probably the first year i've ever seen where this hasn't been mentioned.

I attended for the first time in 7 years. Outline was the same as yours. I'll add this...... after the remember what Jesus did for us part...... the membership drive pitch was overly long. Also emphasis was put on how. "You are not living up to your dedication to Jehovah UNLESS YOU ATTEND ALL 5 MEETINGS!!!!!! AND ENGAGE IN THE DOOR TO DOOR WORK!!!!!" Lots of new faces that will never...ever attend again as per usual. After I left the hall I felt really good that I hadn't attended for 7 years prior to this night.

Why do I think it would be fun to have a group of ten or so attend and partake???? Imagine the looks if ten men and women partook one right after the other. Or is that like the "unforgiveable sin"?
Rember the day AFTER the Memorial everyone will be asking, "How many attended your Hall? How many partook?"

Don't remember an actual directive when I was an MS, but if no one raised their hands......elders or the conductor's wife....the reader was expected to answer. It was considered to be part of the "privledge" of being a "well-prepared" reader.
