by the_classicist inremember witnesses pointing out all that time that "by jove" meant "by jehovah.".
just to set the record straight: it's not "by jehovah" it's "by jupitor.

I love Liver! What's your favorite recipe?
by Rod P inyears ago i was driving down the highway one night, listening to a radio talk show host.. he had some time to kill, so he said to the audience, "i know, let's talk about liver!
how many of you out there like liver?
and if you do like liver, do you have a favorite recipe.".

I like my liver with onion, bacon, mash and gravy. With BSE I've avoided calf and will happily have pig or lamb but the wife prefers lamb, cooked as follows:
Fry off the bacon and drain any water/fat, caramelise the onions and add the bacon and diced liver and reduce the heat. Leave till the liver gives up its juices and add lemon juice, simmer till the juices reduce and add stock and thickener as needed. Serve with mashed potatoes. Not a fussy recipe but it a good plain dish the lemon removes the metalic taste you sometimes get and makes it tender.

Once I was with my wife (then partner) I started enjoying Christmas. Our first together was just after we move up north and she was miserable being away from her family, young and pregnant. For me it was the best Christmas every because I finally had someone to share the whole day with. Not only with Christmas but with so many other things she has shown and shared with me all the things I was missing out on in my life. I know I don't have any religious reasons for celebration, I accept it as a solstice festival and have no problem welcoming the longer nights. The best thing about Christmas is the family traditions and now I have some of my own.

Why do/don't you believe in God
by LouBelle innow for all the scientists out there this is not a question of proof or anything along those lines.
for my part i choose to believe in a god because i honestly believe there is one (though i did start doubting for a little while) i've always felt that there was more to our existance on earth - and that doesn't stem from me wanting to live forever or as a spirit, as i don't even know if that will happen.
i also believe in him because many many times when i could not carry on, on my own strength, i managed to pulled through.

In part many of my views are shaped by my upbringing and there may well be an echo of JW ideology in my statement. I do however stand by it.
If the bible is gods word and a manual for how we should live our lives then it should be clear and uncomplicated
is a proposition not an assumption.
it should be clear and uncomplicated,
Is an assumption and from my proposition i stand by it.
not hidden in metaphor.
Another assumption but if the bible is a clear as some people claim then why after millenniumis it still being studied and debated?
God hasn't issued any updates, these revision are made by people.
Another assumption, or two, or three?
So are you assuming that he has?

Like the evidence that the world exists, or that people die and there's often a residual feeling that it's not the end, or...
Questioning the existence of the universe and our part in it has lead many cultures to believe in god/gods. Which one to pick?
The reformation had a lot to do with that, and some denominations continue to revise the "hymn sheet" as evidence becomes available.
So if there is a need for revision does it not follow that there are articles of faith that were originally in error?
If so how are we to chose what is and what is not correct?
God hasn't issued any updates, these revision are made by people.
