S*its about to hit the fan with my in-laws
by pratt1 inbrief history:.
both my wife and i have faded from the borg for about 10 years.
we still maintain close relationhips with the dubs in our family on both sides.. my wife's sister has not only faded, but she has become an ordained minster, thus my mother in law calls her an "apostate" and refuses to have any contact with her.. her 4 year old daughter will stay with my family for about 2 weeks in august.

I think your right in your concerns and should speak up. Even if you can only let your feelings be known at least you will be there as a piece maker between your wife and her sister if need be. If a parent allows their child to stay with someone then they are putting the ultimate trust in them. You have to respect that trust.

There were some good things about the organisation...
by Do I Stand Alone? ini have read a number of experiences in this discussion forum and quite frankly, i would have to agree that many, if not all, were pretty terrible experiences if not all together traumatic.
i know that my personal 9-11 tragedy resulted in finding out that the watchtower society was involved with the united nations.
that pretty much said it all as far as my "career" in the organisation was concerned.

Nearly forgot the guess a minute game, though the wife (united reform) says she played this too. We challenged each other an I won 7 out of ten.
HA take that you Presbyterian can't count know nothings.

The greatest, most useful, and most used ability I have would not exist if it wasn't for my time in the org. The ability to sit still and fain interest, even nod, um, and er at the appropriate times was finely honed during my tedious education in front of the boredom masters. I would have to listen at work or to the wife's monologue if it wasn't for this ability to enter my “happy place” while all the world is fooled into thinking I give a cr@p.

OH my god it's moving all by itself!!
by hamsterbait ini have just discovered that i can move the cursor on my screen by moving the fingertips of my left hand about one centimeter above my laptop sensor pad.
i don't think it's demunzz, but maybe the electrical field of my body interacting in some way.. if any part of my body is touching the computer it doesn't happen.
i can also make my face tingle when i hold my right hand over my head about five inches above where my soft spot was as a baby.. i often get electrical shocks from the fittings in department stores.. any theories - has anyone else found this??.

Mary I would love to wax but without going into too explicit detail I think I have plenty wax around that area already without the risk of adding more.

A cavers perspective [should be 'Friends' forum]
by jimakazi ini rememeber a trip with my parents to the waitomo caves in nz when i was about 10. when the guide spoke of how slowly the caves formed, how old they were, my parent were shaking their heads with the knowing superioirty of jw truth.
what they beleived was the very limestone had been created by the flood compessing the sea bed under all that extra water, as had all the coal deposits etc.
i started wild caving when i was 15 years old.

You looked down I looked up. Andromeda Galaxy 2.9 million light years away, that means we're seeing it as it was 2,900,000 years ago. But nearly 3 million years ago? No! Nothing but firmament.
I refer you to the learned Mr Montgomery Scott when he said “ye cannae change the laws of physics”

Interesting story -- Church for sale - one previous owner
by zagor inhttp://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_1443017.html?menu=news.quirkies
a fire-damaged church has been put up for sale with the words "only one previous owner, would make a good mosque".. the protestant church in berlin's beusselstrasse has been unused since the blaze six months ago.. minister frieder breitkreuz-hamm said: "we need 2.5 million euros (1.6 million) immediately just to fix the most pressing problems, and we simply don't have that kind of money.. "we are now planning to sell it.
it would be totally suitable for a mosque.

Why would someone who has disassociated allow their child to be taken to KH
by Agnes ini just read the listeners post about baptisms at the district conventions and didn't want to disrupt the thread.
i'm curious, why would someone allow their child to attend the kh or district convention and possibly be pressured into getting baptized?

I have left my children to make there own mind up regarding religion. They are young but have been swayed by Christianity, dabbled with Buddhism and finally plumped for good old apathy. There's only one religion I'd take objection too, can you guess what it is?

Maybe i am vain, but i take whatever measures neccessary to get rid of unsightly 'tufts'.
There's no vanity in my action, just the fear of humiliation from less a hirsute society.
