  Is it getting warm in here or is it just me?

  lately, it seems to be that people are on edge and are forgetting common courtesy in their posts.

  people have told me that they were thinking of un-subscribing or at least taking a long break from the board due to people who take their negative opinion of the subject or opinion being discussed, and turn it into a personal attack.. what is happening here?

  any idea why this sudden spike in overbearing rude people posting here?

  It is perfectly fine to engage in heated debate and make ones opinion known, but if you have to result to insulting someone personally, just because there veiw is diffirent than yours, that would demonstrate weakness of intellect and insecurity on that person's part. An intelligent person can defend their veiws with good judgement, facts and reason. I can tangle with the best of them, and not resort to such childish behavior.

  Once again, There is nothing wrong with debate and disagreement on veiws. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

  I believe what Jeannie is trying to convey is the issue of attacking someone personally with insults and condescending remarks when they disagree with a post. Everyone here is going to have a difference of opinion at some point with a topic or post, and offering your veiws, theories or debating is great, but people need to remember to use some decorum and tact. I don't always agree with others here, but I respect their opinions and veiws and will not resort to insulting them, I have better manners than to stoop so low.This is in my opinion the best ex-JW site on the net and I enjoy being a part of it.

  you name it - c of c, gentile times reconsidered, thirty tears a watchtower slave, the orwellian world of jehovah's witness, apocalypse delayed, and the freeminds and watchtower observer sites, so on and so on.

  and i have been reading the posts on this site regularly pretty much since it started, and hourglass before it.

  i love my mom so much and to hear her cry is the worst thing in the world.

  i heard this as a child and thought to myself, how can any woman accept such a draconian veiw?

  i was not sure if i had understood correctly so, i brought it up to my bible study conductor maggie, i was appalled that she agreed with this veiw, we debated it back and forth, until i got the upper hand, then she told me that i was to "rebellious and strong willed", and that i "should never get married", that i way i would not have to submit to male "headshit" "headship".

  Even if the wife has superior abilities she should not use them, so as not to make her husband feel like he is less than she is????? Do I have that right?

  Yup, you got it, it sounds so rdiculous that it at first you think you must have read it wrong ,only to sadly realize that you read it right. When I first heard this talk it actually took me a minute to let it sink in, and I thought I must not be understanding something here, so I talked to my bible conductor. I cannot comprehend such a veiw myself, Imagine you as a female JW accountant, lawyer, Dr, broker whatever etc... not using her abilities or intelligence so as not to disrespect the husbandly owner. So that would mean you should let the man take the lead risking a poor choice from an uneducated or less able man, even though you the woman, may have a better ability or insight to make the right choice. Makes no sense what so ever to me.

  That talk, I will never forget, it also sealed the deal for me, I knew there was no way I would ever accept such treatment from anyone, and that any group with such a veiw was sick. I wanted then and still do to rip the fu#@ing head off of the idiot that wrote that talk. I'm surprised that the JW's have not yet tried to impose the burka dress for women.
