i put up a couple of dubs who were in town for the district convention.

I put up a couple of dubs who were in town for the district convention.

They gave me a copy of the new "book". They said on Sunday they would be instructed how to use the book. Rumor was that it might replace the Knowledge book?

A quick scan of the table of contents seemed to indicate that possibility.

I looked for the statement that "Jesus chose the org in 1919 because it had been providing proper and timely spiritual food" and found it noticeably absent.

I spent an entire weekend fighting back the urge to laugh hysterically , not be condescending, and acting like I was engaged in rational conversations to bring you this information. I hope you are grateful. I sure am tired.

here is how i understand the jw version of things.. 1. beginning of last days.

and who says i will agree with everything they teach me..

You better if you want to be a jw. They demand it. Kind of creepy ain't it. Most folks read the Bible and say, "this is what I think it all means, but hey I am just some guy. What do you think?" The leaders of the jw read the Bible and say, "this is what we think it all means, and we are chosen by God, so you better believe it!!!"

Ask yourself, what kind of person DECIDES on their own that they are God's chosen servant? I don't know about you, but I would be so afraid of being mistaken about that, and therefore blasphemous, that I would never dream of doing that unless "the stonse cried out". JW's swear up and down that they are God's chosen servant, and they demand that their followers never consider any evidence to the contrary.

i beleive in jehovah god 100% bottom line if wittneses suddenly stopped beleiving in him and in something else i would stand alone!

That is the best attitude. Your loyalty should always be to God, and you should always question very carefully ANYBODY who claims to be his "chosen" servant. That is quite a claim. That is why when God actually sent a special servant in the Bible, he always did something so there was no doubt. Moses parted the Red Sea, Jesus walked on water, and raised the dead.

Ask yourself, has the jw done anything as amazing as that!? Have they done anything that shows they are NOT God's servant?

Glad you are here Daisy, welcome.

You do realize by now though, that this site is primarily occuopied by those who have rejected the jw religion. Most are pretty nice folks, but some are quite bitter.

The nice thing though, is all ideas are open for discussion. Nobody uses threats or phoney claims of God's authority to tell you what you can and can't say.

All ideas have to stand on their own merits.

Remember truth always welcomes examination. Only falsehood fears open discussions.

Keep in mind, if you are baptized, you are no longer allowed to frequent this site.

Good. Do you admit that there are some in the other churches who are very devoted servants of God who are worthy of salvation? Do you admit that there are some jw who are not worthy of salvation?

Wouldn't that mean that "true Christians" are not identified by their membership to some visible human organization, rather they are to be identified by God (not men), on judgement day?

And I would argue against your idea that jw's are so much more devout than members of other churches. The ones you have seen at other churches, that walk out and sin for everyone to see can not be compared to the jws. You see, if a jw did that, they would be disfellowshipped. That is not to say they do not do it. They just don't do it out in the open for YOU to see. Trust me, there are many jw's in very high places who live double lives. Don't kid yourself.

Again, what does it say about your faith if you need some church to force you act the right way?

how do people repent before they start studying or get baptized?

hi every body...i grew up beleiveing in the jw religeon...my mother studied off and on.. due to problems in the family she never got baptized...but she allways beleived in it and so do i..but recently i decided that i want to start studying again..and this time serioulsy b/c before i was a kid now im grown..but for the past 10 or more years ive been sinning..i had a baby without being married ...and i used to smoke marijuana alot!

but i stopped ...but i still do smoke ciggarrettes im trying to stop but its hard to quit cold turkey!

my ?for jw please i will take advice from others but i really dont want to b/c i really want to study and eventually get baptized...anyway my ?

Daisy, it might surprise you that there are MANY people who chose to leave the jw, or not become jw, because as loyal Christians they don't agree with their teachings. Not all refuse to become jw because they don't want to be apart of such a "strict" religion. In many ways, I am more strict and serious about my faith than many JW I know.

I would be happy to talk to you about some of the things I object to about the religion.

Let me ask you something. Are you thinking you should join this religion because you think it's "strictness" will keep you from making any more mistakes?

What do you think it says about a person's faith if they need a "strict" religion to keep them in line. Shouldn't you do what you do out of love for God, not because someone is telling you how strict they need to be?

Ultimately the most important message of the Bible is how to build a relationship with God, through Christ. To do that all you have to do is believe in God, believe He sent His son to die for YOUR sins, and repent. This is of course a journey not a process.

Keep in mind, repentence does not mean you no longer sin. EVERYBODY sins. It means the Holy Spirit lives in you, and as a result of His efforts (not yours), you no longer are in rebellion towards God. You sin because you are imperfect, are mistaken, or have moments of weakness, not because you want to disobey God.

The above description is completely scriptural. Please tell me where in there, you need to include membership to a particular group to gain salvation. The truth is, you don't.

i hate it when people call it a cult

Yes that is not a very considerate or Christian thing to say to people. Nobody likes to have their deeply held beleifs held in contempt. Even worse, is when a person presumes that somebody must be bad or dishonest if they don't agree with what we think the Bible means on something.

For instance, I get really irritated when some people are so sure that they have "the truth", that they act like I must be some kind of jerk because I don't agree with them.

I am always very careful not to do that, because I am a Christian. I always try not to do things to people, that I wouldn't want done to me.

Do you think that is a good idea?

This is a logical fallacy known as a "hasty generalization". It is likely that some do, however you couldn't possibly know, unless you researched all 3000+ known or unknown religions, whether or not this is a true statement. Keep this fallacy in mind next time you here jws telling you how all other religions "don't follow the Bible". Furthermore, your statement implies unlike members of other religions, JW members do not sin between services? Are you saying that every member of every church is less debout and serious about their faith in Jehovah? That is quite an assumption indeed.

You might be surprised to find there are some churches with teachings nearly identical to the jw on God, Jesus, the trinity, the immortal soul, and whether or not hell is really hot. The Restored Church of God (www.thercg.org) even rejects blood transfusions. Some, like the Christadelphians, were teaching the exact same things when Jesus was making his examination in 1919. Why did he choose the jw then?
