  Do 'Cult Deprogramers' Work?

  there have been individuals who hire so called 'cult deprogramers' to get a loved one out of a cult.

  they sometimes kidnap them and try to get them out of whatever cult they might be in.

  does this ever work, and would it have worked on you as a jw?.

  I was initially very optimistic and worked very hard to apply Hassan's principles with my wife.

  Something I have realized is that my wife very desperately NEEDS to believe in the jw. It is more than that she is simply in a mind control situation. Before his methods will work I have to address and help lessen her need.

  The other problem I had with Hassan's books is they don't adequately address how significantly more complicated the situation is when you are married to a jw, and have children. It is very difficult to balance the need to gain the trust of your cult member spouse with the need to protect your children from the indoctrination. I have had to make a very difficult decision to focus on protecting my children even if it means damaging trust with my wife.

  Other than that, those books are invaluable!!! Read them, read them, digest them, read them again. Practice, practice practice!!! Look at every encounter with a dub as an opportunity to hone your cult-busting skills.

  I remember when you said that one lady gave you the "don't you do something like that line", and then she killed her daughter in St. Charles if I remember.

  Ugh.

  Do you know the earlier poster who used to study with Willie? She seemed to think he was a little off. I guess it is hard to know.

  I am always shocked at some of the things I find go on behind closed doors.

  Not trying to be a jerk, but you said nobody knew Willie had issues... but then you said that immediately everyone suspected Willie was involved.

  Those two statements dont' seem to jive?

  Am I missing something?

  Also, another poster said the front door was wide open when it was cold out. You said the cop had to squeeze through the window.

  Again, not questioning you, just trying to better understand how this all happened.

  I bet that hall was NEVER the same after that. Too freaky.

  i see perv ex-bethelite, jesus cano, has been sent up the river.. it seemed to go pretty quickly, which sounds like a plea deal was reached.. i noticed that there appears to be no other charges or allegations of crimes in connection with mr. cano.. i know he served in many places and many of his assetts were seized.. did the society represent him, so that no more bad pub would be sent their way?.

  does anyone know?.

  The dubs that brought you into the WTS

  how do you perceive the jws that had brought you into the wts, do you like them, resent them, are they still dubs or did they get out before you?

  it would be nice if there are instances where those that brought people in later helped them leave.

  i don't particularly like the dubs that got me in because i later realised they were doing everything to impress their superiors and get promoted, something they achieved as they got good bethel positions abroad.

  I think alot about the folks that brought my wife in. They used to be so energetic and enthused about the truth. I still remember the day they showed up at our door (and I didn't have enough sense to pull a pistol )

  After a nasty run in with their local boe I think they are going through some serious doubts.

  I am hoping to spend some time with them soon and land a thought provoking comment. They are both to smart to just keep droning on in the JW echo chamber.

  If they were to leave it would be DEVASTATING to my wife's faith in TFDS.

  And what incredible allies they could become in my struggle to help my wife to free her mind.

  Plus they are such nice folks. I really hope they can regain some control over their lives!

  From reading the ruling it sounds like these records will be open to the court and/or parties filing suit against the WT. Does it also mean they will be made public?

  It would be nice to have a good rundown of the pedophiles known to the org, since they protect them from secular sanction.

  It also appears this is a ruling from a lower court. This could open the WT to death by a thousand cuts. Expect them to fight this like a cornered animal, because that is what they are here. They will take it through every appeal they can. That will take a long time.

  Nevertheless, the WT can run but they can't hide.

  How will JW's and the Society deal with the upcoming 'Centennial Season'?

  okay so we're still a good seven years away but before they know it the watchtower will have to deal with all those centennials, the 100 year anniversaries they hoped and prayed would never come around.. how do you suppose they'll handle it?

  Wow that is a really disturbing story!

  I am from that area, but I was living elsewhere at the time so I don't recall this at all.

  Even if his dad buggered him, he had to be pretty disturbed to rape his dead mother?! Which then makes me wonder if he was disturbed enough to claim his dad buggered him.

  Hey the dubs get on my nerves too, but they sure never made me want to kill and rape my mother.

  I will sleep better knowing this guy is behind bars.

  The real funny part is I cut and pasted the profile from a standard sociopath description. I knew I would find a few things there, but I was amazed how well it fit! I only cut a couple!
