JW superstitions about the memorial -
by james_woods innow that we are all thinking about jw memorial - i was just remembering all the silly superstitions the jws have put around this - their only holiday.
as far as i can tell, none of these are actually biblical:.
1) - it must be held only once per year.. 2) - it must be held on "nisan 14".. 3) - it must be held after sundown.. 4) - the bread must be unleavened.. 5) - the wine must be plain (not fortified) red wine.

Well not really a superstition, but in our hall you couldn't sit anywhere you'd like. They would sit as a first come basis, with the exception of the elders and MS. They were upfront.

hahaha I forgot all about the memorial nonsense!
Yes, there was competition among the congregations that went to the same hall who had the highest attendance. Whoever had the most had bragging rights!
One more thing, how many people that didn't attend meetings but could not miss the memorial because that would be a horrific sin! Guaranteed death at Armageddon! Yes! I heard brothers say that!

How do we encourage the science of homosexuality?
by sabastious inat one point in my life i chose to stop listening to my religion's advice to not research outside of their framework.
about the time i made that decision was when the gay marriage debate was going very strong; and still is to this day.
back then i felt like my state of california was leading the front on it to stop the bigotry and oppression once and for all.. it was a hot topic for me because i was questioning the bible and my faith so i started researching the science of homosexulality.

Yeah, I guess it wouldn't be unethical to provide such alternative. It would raise some controversies though. But one would think by the time such alternative is possible that our knowledge on the subject would be much more thatn we do know.

An interesting question would be, if scientist found out there was a gene controlling this and they found a way to disable it. Would homosexuals volunteer? Would religious fanatics try and make this into a law? Is it unethical to even offer such alternative?
Would this change modern warfare by creating a weapon that would turn a population into homosexuals? lol Okay maybe that's too far out.

My GF Told Me She Got Invited To Go To Dinner By A Very Nicely Dressed Man
by minimus inget this: she called me up to tell me a well dressed man came to her house and actually invited her for dinner, a "meal" at the local kingdom hall on the memorial evening.. he gave her the invitation to enjoy the meal with him and quite a few other people on the night the "meal" was being served.. i explained to her that the dinner only consisted of wine and unleavened bread and that she could only watch the bread and wine being passed but if she got a hold of the plate or the cup she had to just give it the next person.. she asked, "you mean there's no dinner like he said?
" i answered there was not.
and she said, "then forget it then!"..
