How do you feel about the pledge of allegiance now?
by SweetBabyCheezits infor you us citizens (and those whose nations have a similar patriotic oath), how do you feel about your children saying the pledge in school if it's customary?.
my daughter is in 3rd grade and part of her school's morning routine includes the pledge.
when we stopped attending meetings a year ago, my wife and i explained to her that we don't agree with the jw "idolatry" classification so, naturally, she started joining her class in the pledge.. fast forward to the present: my wife and i are both non-theists who want to raise ethical, caring, tolerant children, but also children who aren't afraid to stand apart, especially when that stand isn't popular.

what was the worst meeting you ever attended ?
by man in black inhere's mine :.
back in the early 90's we went to the sunday talk and wt study.. lo and behold, a friend from the 70's who was df'ed ( he had just been reinstated) was there along with his parents.
i had no idea that they would have been there.. one of my kids was getting sick, so my wife and i were up-down the entire meeting walking him around.

Wow those are some stories!
I don't really have a "worst" meeting. I guess the last few bible studies where I stopped participating and the elder would call out on me after no one was asnwering the questions. It annoyed the hell out of me. Then the worst assembly was when I decided I didn't want to wear a tie or a suit, I got hell from plenty of people.

Now that I look back.... I never really did date anyone in the congregation. (I stopped going to the meetings when I was 16...yeah you can imagine the battle I went through)
But I do remember one time when I was 13 the elders called me to the back room for hugging a girl outside the kingdom hall. She was the daughter of some parents that were studying. It was a chilly night and I was hanging around outside, and I was talking to her and she said she was cold so she hugged me while I put my jacket around her too. I liked her, so I hugged her even more tight, hehehe

The best friend a man has in the world may turn against him and become his enemy. His son or daughter that he has reared with loving care may prove ungrateful. Those who are nearest and dearest to us, those whom we trust with our happiness and our good name may become traitors to their faith. The money that a man has, he may lose. It flies away from him, perhaps when he needs it most. A man's reputation may be sacrificed in a moment of ill-considered action. The people who are prone to fall on their knees to do us honor when success is with us, may be the first to throw the stone of malice when failure settles its cloud upon our heads.
The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous is his dog. A man's dog stands by him in prosperity and in poverty, in health and in sickness. He will sleep on the cold ground, where the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely, if only he may be near his master's side. He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer. He will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounters with the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of his pauper master as if he were a prince. When all other friends desert, he remains. When riches take wings, and reputation falls to pieces, he is as constant in his love as the sun in its journey through the heavens.
If fortune drives the master forth, an outcast in the world, friendless and homeless, the faithful dog asks no higher privilege than that of accompanying him, to guard him against danger, to fight against his enemies. And when the last scene of all comes, and death takes his master in its embrace and his body is laid away in the cold ground, no matter if all other friends pursue their way, there by the graveside will the noble dog be found, his head between his paws, his eyes sad, but open in alert watchfulness, faithful and true even in death.

Where do you go from here?
by still looking inafter either being a witness or studying with them, and you find out stuff that has you leave, where do you go?
i don't think they are the true religion, but i do think they teach a lot of stuff that is correct.
like the trinity being a false doctrine, no idle worship, including crosses, and hell isn't a forever torture.

PS,
You brough up a very interesting point. I've thought about the idea of sin. The explanation of many religious beliefes including the one from the Watchtower is that humans lost their imperfection due to sin. You seem to think god messed with our DNA.
Why did god did not destroy Satan? I remember the answer from the Watchtower was that the angels were also watching, and what would they think if they did that. Since satan proposed that humans could reign themselves. (I think that how it went, it's been a while).
And I remember thinking to myself... Why wouldn't they have a problem with god cheating? Because god changing our DNA is cheating. I can just imagine satan going up to god and saying, "Hey, they don't need you". Then god turns around and says, "Oh yeah? Let me make a few changes here and there". And the angels are cool about it, but destroying satan, ho no, that would shatter their image of the great almighty wise powerful god.
What other changes did god had to do after the original sin? Let' see, he gave humans canine teeth yet he forgot to take out the wisdom teeth. He also forgot to take out the appendix, and so many other things. For being a very powerful being he sure has fucked up a lot of shit.
This is just a few things that for me, makes evolution have more sense than a story of a god.

Inter-Heaven memo, lol
I used to do that when I was a kid. If I was paired up with my cousin I would make a deal with him. We are going to pretend to be knocking... bad part was when they noticed we were there, lol.
