JW Kids Leave the Organization: Facts
by Maximus inthe october 1 watchtower 2001 features articles on training children "properly" and dealing with a "prodigal child.
the latest inside u.s. figures reveal that 86% of jw children leave the fold, with some 29% who eventually come back for reasons of family ties, most never "reaching out.
" that means over half leave permanently.

I was mulling this thread over and remembering when my son lived at home. He never took to the Jdubs, didn't like what was going on, and said it was in a nutshell boring, not the fact of serving God, but the endless mind numbing meetings that had all the motivation of a sleeping pill. He said that the Elders couldn't care less about the young ones in the congregation and if something was fun it would soon be forbidden or at least counsel not to be participating in that activity anymore. The DC and Assemblies were anything but fun. He and a couple of friends of his, who definitely lead double lives couldn't care less about the society, the hall or the bros and sisters. He believed it was for those too old to leave and for the truly walking dead. Never any activities organized around the needs of the younger ones by the elder body, when children see this they know that these couldn't really care less about them. Buff

Yes, Maximus, I too read the Apostate article in the WATCHTOWER and was just roflol over the ineptness of the writers. They don't seem to have a clue, I was writing in the Mag one my wife got me through the subscription method and she was wondering what I was doing so I showed her, What more we had discussed this issue (ranted actually on her part) about how they don't have clue about young ones, I showed her all the bull nonsense, and of course she agrees but we have to remember that they are imperfect men (geeesh) I say. Well thanks for your thread, and I have greatly enjoyed and will continue to do so I'm sure you insight into this thing, this borg. Buff

most HATED thing about the meetings ...
by alliwannadoislive inhey ya'll ... ain't tuesdays, thursdays and sundays even better nowadays ?.
i was wondering what it is that you hated most about the meets ?.
the one thing that used to really rile me was the pressure to control the children - the frowns and the disapproving looks when they were just behaving like normal kids .... the worst of it all for me was seeing any little person being taken outside and hearing the loud slaps even when the door was closed .... what is it that you least miss ?

I hated the book study or rather the boring book reading, because it was apparent that not many cared enough to study. You could see that most didn't even go over the material. I especially hated having to ask Jehovah/Yahweh whoever for a blessing at the end of it, and the last three times when asked if I would give the closing prayer, I declined, you could hear a pin hit the floor (that be a carpeted floor) it got so quiet, embarassed my wife to no end. Elder too he didn't know what to say. Told the Elder that bro so and so can't read needs the practice so I decline thanks. They hated me I know but then again, I hated them too. My children said do to my demeanor, and past (x amount of years in military and 42 months in Vietnam i tended to intimidate people) well I know i intimidated that weasel. He was scared shitless of me and most there could tell it. oh well adios ass holes. Buff

Russell as "That Servant"; Re: Dunsscot
by AlanF insince dunsscot claims he's leaving this board, and in answer to my specific request for a committment to answer all replies i might give to his latest replies to my previous dissections of his nonsense he said that he would not, i won't be giving a detailed reply to him.. however, dunsscot's posts contain a number of statements that prove how easily the watchtower society fools the jw community by lying to it, either outright or in so many words.. in this post we will examine a fiction that the society has managed to get poor people like dunsscot to believe with respect to c. t. russell, namely, that russell never claimed that he was "the faithful and wise servant" of matthew 24:45. the simple truth is that russell did indeed believe it.
the fact that he did was printed in the watch tower, and the society itself taught it until about 1927.. let's first look at the context of dunsscot's denial of this important bible student teaching.
in the set of exchanges below, the reader can see that dunsscot is attempting to deny that jw leaders claim to be god's exclusive earthy spokesmen.

Dunscott is avoiding the issue a la Clinton. Everything about nothing, and at all cost avoid the evidence presented. I sometimes wonder if Billy boy was around and associated with the jdubs at a tender time of his life. He sure seems to emulate them in avoiding all evidence presented. What I see is lack of refuting the evidence presented by Alan, and he Dunscott shaking his finger saying I did not have sex with that ...... etc. Sure and even if huh!!!! Buff

elders lack of love
by buffalosrfree ini have been thinking about a situation that happened some years ago prior to my becoming a jdub.
i had met a man in a hospital in san diego who was an invalid, he had no family there, and if it wasn't for a couple of local sisters, he wouldn't have had anyone to visit or talk with him.
he was to remain in the hospital until his death some months later.

I have been thinking about a situation that happened some years ago prior to my becoming a jdub. I had met a man in a hospital in San Diego who was an invalid, he had no family there, and if it wasn't for a couple of local sisters, he wouldn't have had anyone to visit or talk with him. He was to remain in the hospital until his death some months later. My wife along with two other sisters were visiting him there, I went on a visit with my wife to meet him. I thereafter stopped by and visited with him on an almost daily basis, he had family but no one close mileage wise. He loved God very much and really missed association with the so called brothers from the congregation. After talking with the elders he was able to get the meeting piped into his room via the phone. He enjoyed these very much, again however none of the elders from the local congregatons ever came up to visit with him, even those from the congregation that arranged to have him hear the meetings. The hospital was to take my name phone and address as his point of contact if anything happened this was a stituation very important for him.
to make a long story short, I received a phone call one evening from the hospital, he had taken a turn for the worse and they didn't believe that he would last much longer, I visited him there got all the facts, called and notified the PO the book study conductor and two other elders. I called his son let him know what had happened with what I was doing. He had been also notified by the hospital. Now this is where the love of the elders and congregation came in, His son not well to do himself, needed somewhere for him and his family to stay if possible, I brought this up with the elders and none volunteered to help. My wife and I bit the bullet and told them they were welcome to stay with us for however long they needed to, to see this through with his dad.
Arrangements were made with his son and we were awaiting there arrival, he his son lived some 800 miles from us. Well I did receive a call one evening prior to son's arrival and they said He (Herman give his first name here) wasn't going to make it through the night. My wife and I immediately left went to the hospital and sat there with him until he passed away some five hours later. I notified the PO and the same elders that I had previously notified land they couldn't be bothered none, I mean none of them showed up at the hospital to offer any sort of spiritual comfort or anything. Just me my wife and a friend of my wife were the only ones who showed up. When he died we went home, had a cry, and prayed for him. This sat off major alarms in my head about these bastard elders and there total lack of love and care about another jdub. I should have known then and there that this wasn't Jehovah's org but I was alittle brain dead then too. well enough I guess we all know about the total lack of love of the elders well it wasn't love in Herman's situation and its not love now. This hominid finding while quite interesting, it could really blow a lot of religionist thinking to pieces, is no big deal in that you can find all kinds of hominids in Bethel of all places aren't they a cross between a chimp and a human????? Just sort of tongue in cheek as they say. Now they can have alzheimer research done on hominids there in bethel too. Bethel is becoming a pit/abyss of scientific research and hopefully soon prosecutorial research/investigation too. One does have thier hopes. Buff
