well - i had been wanting to do this for a long time , to question a legal department representative at bethel about the child abuse settlements and jw child abuse, since last year when the news came out about it.

especially since my dad , an elder for years was never aware of it and has on his own taken steps to see that families with children are informed if a former pedophile is in their congregation.

i was curious as to what the current views and policies in place are .

The society doesn't care one whit about the victim, they just care about their image. That idiots replies just shows that they don't care, why aren't they making it public and showing the public by doing do that they don't have to worry about a pedophile being in the door to door work and possible putting their children at risk when these predators come knocking. The elders even in the congregations don't care about the R&F just doing mama's will (society's which is interpreted as being God's)

Those being threatened with dfing if they expose or talk about a pedophile should get a lawyer and sue those seeking to intimidate them with violating thier constitutional rights the civil rights etc. and see what happens then.

Shuning the shunner

my daughter goes to a school where one of the office personel is a jw.

my hubby is df'd i haven't been to a meeting in 3 years.

when we go into the office and have to talk to her she directs all of her responses to me even if my husband is the one that asked the question.. once my husband went in there with my daughter and this person didn't direct her answers to my husband who asked the question, but to my daughter who was just tagging along.. this is stupid.

I would let the principal know how you are being treated, and then I would inform the school district, and let them know that you and your husband believe you are being discriminated against due to religion (hers) and that it doesn't coinside with your religious beliefs (if any anymore) Also let them know that you will seek the advice of an attorney if this person persists in doing this. That should get her straightened out. don't put up with their nonsense.

I had something similar happen at a grocery store, one of the cashiers their would never speak, why I don't know had never been df'd or da'd and was just inactive but she wouldn't speak or say hi, so I went to manager had a talk with them, and thold them if she continued to ignore me i would be taking my business elsewhere and i would be very public about it and let people know why in a very loud voice while i would be checking out. Well that definitely got a apology from him for her actions (or lack there of) and she almost chocked the next time i came in and made it a point of using her counter to check out. I also called her dad an elder and let him know how she was acting.

Reminds me of a brother I know whose wife is still captured mentally by the borg, and she is constantly wanting him, to go to meeting, out in service, comment at meetings. His child has mentioned to said spouse a number of times why do you bother when you know going to the meeting, service, and commenting is something that doesn't want to be done??? Might as well be talking to the wall as get them to understand you don't care about the bs.

Voting, I myself have often wondered why i do it, but then if one doesn't vote per se, one is actually voting, they just don't vote physically for the person(s) whom they think may have made a difference, and when upset with whatever particular leader is in power they need to look into the mirror and realize that by not getting involved they actually voted that person in, but their lack of action.

The Society doesn't want us to vote but they want us to vote for them our inactivity shows we are voting for them, you know the window washers, the nerdowells, the pipsqueaks with power, those are ones they are voting for. They want people to do all of their thinking for them, make all the decisions, that way they think they won't be responsible for their own outcome as citizens.

They don't realize imo that Jesus when he mentioned that his kingdom was no part of the world was actually talking about a real life kingdom that had an infrastructure, army, lanes, roads, that was the kind of kingdom he was speaking that they were no part of. An actual kingdom would have an army etc to defend it or at least try. Jdubs have used this nonsense as an excuse to not get involved in helping their fellow man, the country, city, state, neighborhood, local hospita etc., etc.

I know of several people who though they would have liked to employ some dubs, would not due to their bs about meeting, service, and conventions. I do know of two dubs who have dubs working for them and have them working during these times. So just goes to show ya, if you are worldly (non-jdub) you are at risk, if a jdub is your boss you are now therefore his slave and he can have you work anytime he wants. go figure.

Are the 30 minute public talks becoming SERVICE talks?

if you take all the fluff out of a public talk, i,e.

the "state of this system of things," the bad news report, negative stats.

you're basically left with a service talk, aimed not at the public but the dubs.. i noticed that when the public talks were cut by 15 minutes what resulted was a 30 minute service talk or at the very least, a 30 minute local needs talk because all congregations seem to have the same problems.. these talks definitely seem to have a harder tone to them because you have all the counsel compressed into half an hour.. have any of you here who still attend noticed this?.

I take a folder and read mags inside of it while all the posturing and bull s**t sessions are going on, make it go faster too.

New testament contradictions.

inspired by a certain person who is relatively new here i decided to start a new topic on the bible.

i will just mention a few nt contradictions.. 1-jesus birth.

in matthew 2:1 the bible says that jesus was born during the reign of herod the great but in luke 2:2 it says that jesus was born during the first census of israel when quirinius was governor of syria.

The idea of the birth stories not being true as well as what happened during the resurrection, two many different accounts, people won't accept what they see as questionable because to do so would put into question their very belief structure and they don't won't or like change, so therefore they don't question any of the baloney put forth by the society they just accept it, it is easier to do that.
