I learned that there was a real worldwide flood (supposedly of course) and that just because all cultures have myths or stories of floods. Guess floods maybe more common than supposed. I also learned that there was a day when the earth stood still (Oh that was Michael Remy??_) supposedly during the time of Joshua the Sun stood still, and of course there are myths and stories in every culture about that too huh,,,,,,welllllllllllllll maybe not. So to use their own means of proof for the flood the day of the sun standing still is b.....s......l of course. Hell Joshua even wrothe the book of Joshua years after he died, Just like Moses wrote parts of Genesis years after he croaked. So much time so much b.s. Buff

disfellowshipping children
by QCA1 inawhiile back i posted telling you about my grandson whos mother hit him for not saying grace before a meal ( he is 15yrs old ) he has been hit on many occasions,he hates being a witness and is forced to go to the hall by his mother.
my grandson phoned us on the day his mother had hit him,he was sobbing down the phone to us and said he wanted to come and stay with us, i said yes and that i would fetch him, anyway his mum and dad have had nothing to do with me since despite me writing to them expressing how much i love my grandchildren and that i wish to see them,i have had no reply.. the other day my grandson phoned and said to my younger son that he is leaving home when he is 16 and can he come and stay with us,of course i said yes.
what i need to know is will he be disfellowshipped for living with his grandma ( i am not a jw ) of course i know what this will mean for him,his brothers and parents will shun him.. as for me what else can i do to see my grandchildren.

I don't know what state your in, but he could possibly become an emancipated minor, able to do what he wants, and loive where he wants, to be at home and force fed the borg nonsense isnt going to help him nor will it build him up he evidently sees the problems with the borg. You will know the truth and the truth will set you free, get him emancipated soonest.

Ananias And Sapphira, what's the deal? (Leo? Nark?)
by AlmostAtheist inwhat's the deal with the ananias and sapphira story from acts 5?
i understand that they were killed for lying, not for being greedy, but the lie was a fairly petty charge to lose their lives over.
i love that in the story they managed to prepare the husband for burial and bury him before the wife happens to show up.

That story n Acts is about as true as the Jack and Jill fairy tale, Its helps the org to control the borgites, more of the happy horese manure can be found at your local kingdumb hall.

What was your favorite thing about service?
by Dustin ini used to love break time.
especially if it was afternoon service, and we stopped at taco bell.
i used to be damn good at eating tacos in the car without spilling anything.

I always like it when it ended. Talk about your basic waste of time, talked with an elder about it once and told him when were not given a commission to go out in service. Matt 28: 19, 20 was for the apostles not the disciples, he of course disagreed and so I told him to show me where Jesus had told his "disciples" to go preach, teach and baptize, he couldn't. I haven't been out since.
The D2D work is a complete waste of time, little if any results world wide on it, I think and its my understanding from my experience that most come in by being born to it, have friends or family who are in and started a bible study that way. I have met only 1 possible 2 people who ever came in as a direct result of the D2D work. I had first come acdquainted with this b.s. in 1985 and have regretted it for a couple of years.

Seeing JWs in a positive light.
by ScoobySnax innot a new light, just a positive light.. sometimes on here i worry that all jws are painted with a bad brush when i know that not to be the case.
today i was looking after a jw patient on the ward and she was the most wonderful old girl you could meet, she really made me smile, and she was bright as a button.
later her family came in, who i didn't recognise and they were just as pleasent.

seeing jws in a positive light. now that is an oxymoronic thought and an exercise in futility for some of us.

How many "real friends" did you have in your congregation?
by JH inmost congregations have about 80 to 120 people.
out of that, how many could you consider being a "real friends"?
personally, not one of them was a "real friend".

Let's see real friends, that would be one from the borg, I no longer hardly ever attend unless its just to keep the wife company, me and this friend continue to be friends doing things together, even tho i have basically all but totally faded. He knows how I feel, and what I think, and still is my friend. He found out who his real friends were when he encountered a real problem for several years, I was the only one who kept up a friendship with him, and he found out just how conditional the friendship was with the "friends."
I have people I haven't seen in 14 years and yet when we talk its like no time has passed and we sort of pick up just where we were the last time.
I called one of my old friends that i hadn't even spoken to in over 25 years, it was like no time had passed, we are truly blessed if we have someone we can freely speak to without being afraid of someone turning us into the jdub elders. this friend was so surprised as they mentioned this is unreal we haven't been seen or been in contact with each other all this time and its like not time had passed. Now that is a friend. When I had to go through so medical problems, I quickly found myself alone, just me, wife, and kids, no one would come over and see how I was doing, The so called brothers and sisters proved to be stranges encounted along the way of life, they were unloving, uncaring and didn't want to be bothered.
Well the hell with them, I dont care to speak with any of them.

Keeping the congregation clean?
by heatherg ini just had an interesting experience today.
i ran into an old ex-friend that had just been released from prison.
he was sentenced for selling pot to the highschool girls he coached for soccer and for sleeping with underage girls.

Conscientious objection was it a factor in attracting you to the JWs
by barry inwell it was with my first wife athough she never joined or was baptised she allways had a soft spot for the witnesses and their stand on war.. i pointed out to her other denominations dont beleive in war who does.
in my own church many take a non combatancy or a concientious objector stand.
some go in as full combat though, but it is a concience issue.

Seems this young marine is getting the shaft, which in my opinion is rampant in the Military. the term Military Justice should actually read Military Injustice. I spent 20 plus years in and seen a lot of it in my time.
I have had additional duties of a PIO a preliminary Investigative Officer, and found that often someone in trouble for violating "orders" was being railroaded. I didn't become popular with many in the chain of command especially when they were jumping with joy over the fact that someone had screwed up. My investigations were thorough and I always went the extra mile to ensure that my recommendations were accurate.
An article 32 investigation and recommendation should have breen followed but someone up in the chain of command has decided to have this Young Marine serve as an example, not because he was guilty, but to serve as an example to other young marines who may suddenly get religion. This in my estimation and opinion is another exame of Military Injustice.

MJ Prediction thread..all prophets apply...
by Brummie inmr michael jacksons trial starts in a couple of weeks.

Mary, exactly, he is emotionally stunted, but as far as guilty goes, if he is and I believe that he is, I hope he gets to meet his new husband in prison and get some return on what he has done to young children. a trip down memory lane so to speak.
What is irksome is the fact that these people when in prison are protected, i believe they should be in the regular prison population so they can enjoy all the benefits of thier crimes and suffer, or enjoy, which ever the case may be, the fruits of thier labors.
