come on guys, this is auxilary pioneer time, so we get more people lurking on this site at this time of year, or at least i think so, if not correct me please. Maybe some are counting their time posting on this site so as to count it toward aux pioneering.

Watchower defends "Preaching first policy" in WT "Who Will Help The Poor?"
by truthseeker inthe may 1, 2006 watchtower has the feature article "who will help the poor?".
on the front cover is a picture of a child holding his face in his hands looking miserable.. .
firstly, you would think a religious corporation with billions of dollars in the bank might actually be doing something for the poor, but no.

This is something that as always perlplexed me, how can they think that a magazine will feed, clothe, and house a poor person? Many times when out in service we have met the poor, the homeless, etc and yet the unfeeling of the witnesses confounds common sense. they say that if we just leave a magazine with them, we are giving them a chance at eternal life. They however, forget that one can't eat paper and survive, nor has a magazine yet provided clothing and housing for the poor. They think they are leaving something life saving to the poor when they place a set of magazines with them.
Most who believe a magazine or tow magazines are life saving are truly brain dead in my book.

Do you think the real reason why Elders don't make shepherding visits is...
by XJW4EVR inthat they can't count the hours?

I use to accompany an elder in the shepherding when I was a ministerial servant. We seemed to enjoy it, but quickly learned that most of the other book study conductors done shepherding calls in voice only. I.e. said they did but really didn't. They didn't even know a lot of the problems being experienced by those in their book study. When word got around we were approached but members of other book studies about the need for encouragment, help, need of a visit etc. Our time doing this quickly magnified, and when we brought it up during a visit from the C.O. and pointed out that others didn't seem to be accomplishing this. You could have heard a needle thunderously hit the carpeted floor it was so quiet.
Needless to say, we weren't well appreciated and our comments less so. But truth is truth they weren't conducting shepherding calls and most of them could care less, If you weren't a pioneer or heavy auxilary pioneer you didn't exist.

Telling a Friend I Don't Want to Go to Meetings Anymore
by Good Girl or Bad Girl? ini have a very close friend, who has been a mentor to me for years, who has never judged me in spite of things i've been through.
she is nearly 35 years older than me but we have a kindred spirit.
she is a very devout jw and i believe she always will be.

You never know about "friends" until something happens to put them on record of being a friend or a foe. i have a friend that will at times call me and ask my opinion about an upcoming book study, or a watchtower lesson. And for the most part, he will agree with my comments about it. He is trapped in the cycle of going out in service with his wife on days off and being an auxilary pioneer on those special occasions the society dreams up. He, "hate it," he says, but who knows for sure but he is always looking for comments about bood studies and wt studies. I am glad to give them, and he knows I don't give a shit who knows that I don't care about what they have to say.
For your part i would leave well enough alone or tell her you are waiting on Jehovah to make it clearer to you on just how the wtbts was chosen to be his speical people in 1918;/1919; and see what she says about that. Other than just making up b.s. ask her to provide you with a copy of the finished mystery so you can see for yourself just what the society was distributing that called for them to be the faithful and discreet slave other than just their saying so. That should stump her for quite awhile (a lifetime).

Field Service
by XBEHERE inquestion for those of you still going out: do you actually still pretend to preach to people?
pretend interest in the latest mags so they will take them?
for me its easy since territory is so apathetic anyway i just dont bother overcoming any of their "conversation stoppers" my calls i am slowly, methodically telling them i wont be coming around anymore.

I always found it interesting that we would work the same old territority where almost always no one was home. The elders tried to skate out for a "bible study" that could be done on any day, as I had been on that study and the individual studying said any day was fine if we wanted to change it. So I did once told the elder i took over the study for during his absence and he about had kittens when he realized he would have to go out in service like the rest of us. He quickly reestablished the old study schedule for him and another lazy elder. They were both named John reminds me of a saying Juan tamad (lazy john) and it was very fiting they almost never went out in field service with the book study attendees.

I too, have had assholes like him in the work environment. I have mostly just ignored them. If you don't respond to anything they do, after awhile they will start to realize just how insignificant they are to your work life.
As far as bragging about cheating the program, why not bring up the fact with the powers that be and see if they do any checking to follow up on claims entered for that type of training? If not suggest that they do and use his own words as your reason for doing so and pointing out that cheaters hurt the program and make it bad for others who are doing whats right.
You might find he is all talk and no bark and probably isn't even in training at all, and if so is going but tries to put on airs of the superiority of the cheat and liar. Call his bluff. As far as wanting to knock some sense into his head, that would probably be impossible to do, as he doesn't seem to have any brain cells that would assimilate it.

Rural Service
by buffalosrfree inrural service was always the most fun for me and my family.
we loved it.
i almost always drove out there and i mean out there from 14 to 25 miles from the hall we drove and then spent at least 1/2 of the day or all day out there in the "door to door" service.

It was almost alwyas fun that is we had brothers and sisters to talk with and to speak of many subjects both society blessed and unblessed. We went to some of the facilities for food and drinks that were in the area and we took breaks as needed and always seemed to have a good time. i finally brought it up to my wife that we were the only ones to spend the money for gas and that i had no help with it. But that for some reason seemed okay although it stuck in my mind that hey dummy you are the only one paying for this trip!
How did all of you like the rural territorities?:"??

HALL CLEANING
by buffalosrfree ini found it fascinating that when 0ur book study was assigned the cleaning of the hall it always seemed to fall to two familites, mine and the book study conductors.
despite all the others in the book study it was me and my family that cleaned the hall on meeting days and on saturdays.
i often wondered what gives, one other in the congregation a ministerial servant and his family almost never showed up.

I often wondered what gives, one other in the congregation a ministerial servant and his family almost never showed up. if they did it was the servant and not his family. I guess me and mine were stupid for volunteering to help out all of the time, this included the cleaning or doctoring of the grounds around the hall. Anyone else have this problem?/?????
