I just remembered something from the DC a few weeks ago: the part on "The Deeper Things of God" or something, where we are encouraged also to have special research projects going in addition to our normal study. Of course we were told to be "balanced" and not get get carried away and neglect our regular study. Don't worry.

Good stuff, and the fact you lowballed the figures speaks volumes as well. I, for one, spend a lot more time travelling to and from meetings, as well as before and after meeting time (lucky you, getting out in 12 minutes!) Also think of the guys that have parts every week or at least frequently, the school conductor, WT conductor, etc and the hours get much higher. That of course applies inversely to time taken away from family, home responsibilities, or just simple "down time" which we all desperately need. -

What's a good excuse to miss a meeting?
by JH inname good excuses that should be good enough to miss a meeting but not good enough for the elders...

XB,
Nice job but you missed one.... It is possible that Lot had faith that his daughters could be similarly protected.

If you went to the Memorial, what was the attendance like?
by truthseeker inis the hall half full or half empty?.
seriously though, last night there were about 20% less than the year before, and the year before that there was less.. the hall was rented, but definitely not jam packed like last year.
i had no problem finding a seat.. what was your attendance like?
-
Tristram
Completely packed to the gills last night. But I agree with XBEHERE that its not an accurate gauge. Check out the TMS and Service Meeting this week for the real picture.

Active Witnesses...... lets get a head count....
by ?me? injust wondering out there, who is still active?
makes most of the meetings, all the conventions, comments, is still active socially with the congregation, out in service, hall building etc.
just wondering, because we know who are the elders, or recently former elders and i usually seek their posts for some interesting comments... .

Present. Mostly a lurker here because I don't want to say anything that would get me found out. Active...meetings, service, assemblies, socializing, etc.

Tremendous changes in a short time.....
by AK - Jeff ini mean if you think about it - and i might be off on the time a little - in the past 6 months we have heard of the following;elimination of the hard cover biblereducing of awake to monthly additionsdownsizing at bethel worldwideelimination of bethel elders.
there may be others that i forgot about.
but these are all very significant, and they are all happening at once, in a relative sense.those of us in the apostate circles may not realize just how the total impact might be on the flock.

From the inside: Some of the R & F are actually excited about the paperback bible! Like it is some amazing new provision!

Did you ever get any "Bad Advice" from Elders or Ministerial Servants?
by JH in.
i remember once, an elder told me that i could become a full time pioneer.
i was working 40 hours a week, and had a seasonal job 7 months a year.. the way he figured it out, i could work 8 hours during my day, then go to my meetings, and still find 3 or 4 hours to preach that same day...... i told him to go climb a tree.

Not advice, per se, but that I would be "Truly Blessed" now that I quit college (at their urging.)
