I don't know that I felt guilty persay, since I was just a kid at the time and didn't really know any better. But it did feel unnatural and uncomfortable. I think it was my rebellious mind already figuring out that Witnesses had a problem with natural feelings of affection and support.

by looloo ini was having an affair with a pioneer at the time and a girl who was disfellowshipped was in the loo at the hall (she actually had not done aything scriptually wrong (but the elders thought she had ) i tried to smile at her as i felt i was not in a position to judge anyone as guilt was destroying me but she just looked down at the floor , 14 years later we are good friends and both "free".
when you were "in" and ignored disfellowshipped did you ever think "im not in a position to judge anyone " ?.

Hubby is graduating from some military training in San Antoino. I'm going to go down and attend the graduation and we're going to cruise around that area and Corpus Christie for a week. I would never have listed Texas as one of my top 100 places I want to visit, but now that I'm going I can hardly wait!

Anyone else here a 1976 baby?!
by Mickey mouse ini just realised recently that my birth at the end of 1976 could well have been a result of my parents being disappointed at the absence of armageddon in 1975 so they may as well have a baby afterall.

this subject is a pretty touchy one for most of us men, especially those of us that have been put under the " knife" , and got to the point where we did not want any more children.

My husband and I decided to go this route a couple of years ago. We love our kiddos, but we had enough of resetting the clock. We want to be able to travel and do things that require MONEY before we're too old to enjoy it.
The procedure itself was pretty quick and non-painful, and he healed up pretty quick afterwards. I gave him lots of attention and waited hand and foot for a couple days, so I think he enjoyed that aspect of it.
I did stay and watch the procedure though. It was kind of interesting. The only part that made my husband a little squirmy is we had it done at a military clinic and they had some nurses up from another base that had never seen the procedure done. They asked his permission to view and he didn't want to tell them no. Heh. So we ended up with the doctor, who was male, and about 4 females including me viewing the whole thing. He was quite a trooper about the whole thing.
On a slightly unrelated tangent. My daughter is watched by a good friend of mine while I work during the day. She has a son my daughters age (3). Apparently... in their house, they call boy bits "beans and frank". One day I had my girls with me when I was working at the library and my 3 year old girl yells out "OUCH! THAT HURT MY BEANS AND FRANK!". Apparently she had fallen down a step and hurt her leg, and I don't even think she knew what that meant, but I still laugh when I think about that one!

This actually happened not far from where I live. The trailhead is around 20 miles south of me I think? They filmed parts of the movie even farther south than that, I guess the guy who found a bus to mock up still has it sitting in his driveway. Those who ended up being involved in the movie as contractors and whatnot all had really great things to say about Sean Penn and his crew. He's still talked about as being very down-to-earth and respectful.
The attention with the movie has caused a lot more traffic to and from the actual bus. Community members are a little worried about how this story is percieved and romanticized and people trying the same thing. Alaskans hold a dim view of what happened in the first place. I've seen the directions to the bus described as- "Here's the map. Here's where you gotta go. This is where you park. This is where you walk. This is where you maybe drown. This is where you maybe get eaten by the bear and the mosquitoes get you. And that's where you die". Most sane people know that the Alaskan wilderness isn't a place to find yourself. But it sure does make a good story I guess.
I do plan on seeing it though. I've heard that the cinematography is good, and it's a rare thing when a movie about Alaska isn't filmed in British Columbia or New Zealand!

Are You Angry That You Didn't Get To Celebrate The Holidays?

i think birthdays and xmas are important ones to make sure that you give and get gifts.
perhaps it's because i never experienced the "joy of the holidays".

Definitely not angry, but my children do reap some huge benefits of my deprived childhood. I tend to go way overboard on holidays, especially Christmas. Although they'll never fully appreciate it the way I do, at the very least I hope I'm helping to create some really great memories for them.

This part made me want to puke. I fully agree with Gopher, this is about the Bride and Groom, no one else should have the power to veto who attends or doesn't. This epitomizes why this religion is a cult... they have a grip and power over every aspect and detail in everyone's life. Those not in power can't sneeze without permission. How stupid is it that it even has to be a discussion whether or not loving family members can attend??? Like you're an escaped felon or something.
I *would* call her. She already knows in her heart this isn't right, and she's afraid to speak to you in person because of it.

Librarian, full time Mom, and very part time Web Designer. I use to own my own web design company, but burned myself out on that front and sold it about 6 months back. Being a Librarian is much slower paced and suits me very well.
