A Jehovah's Witness CANNOT Say These Words
by steve2 in.
in five words or less, please give examples of statements no jehovah's witness in good standing could ever say.
here are two examples:.

I just don't get it
by robhic inmy poor jw girlfriend is in the hospital with some seizures and other related neurological problems.
she is heavily sedated, partially restrained, is generally "out of it", has no attention-span and her short-term memory is about 1-2 minutes sometimes.. now, much to their credit, some from her congregation and even an older elder (is that redundant?
) which, from the horror stories i've read here makes him an exception, visit regularly.

I think it's partly habit to place the literature anywhere they can. They may be hoping that YOU read it and they may also be hoping that the nurses may express intrest. Just my guess :)

Do you think of yourself as an apostate
by barbar inmany of the people on this site say that they are apostates.
but that is not the way i feel about myself.. i am not angry with the "witnesses" or the organisation, i don't feel that i wasted my life.
i just think that i was stupid to believe it for 30 years (well sort of believe it, i did have severe doubts on and off).

"Apostates, Demons and Jehovah. These are the three most powerful words in the JW world." Too true! I remember all too well the hushed tones that the apostates were talked about in. Thinking back it reminds me of campers telling ghost stories holding the flashlight up under their chin. "And then... he became an APOSTATE!" "AAAAAGHHH!!!!" In my childhood I always held the same kind of fear for apostates as I did for demons. Only since stumbling across this site did it even occur to me that by Witnesses definition I was very much an apostate. Have I ever thought of myself so??? Not once. But on reflecting, I suppose being someone who doesnt just buy into the mob mentality is something to be proud of. If they want to label me apostate, then thats fine too!

there have been changes.....
by lisavegas420 inhow would you respond to the following quote.....i got this from a pro jw site.
i don't post on the site, just read.......i just wanted to know how you all would respond to this post.never let anyone cause you to doubt the organization...true there have been changes in the past in which the society readily admits to but the bottom line is that this is the channel jehovah has chosen...remember the vision of his chariot...those wheels could change any direction on a dime...it is our responsibility to move with that chariot and keep up otherwise we will be left behind with nothing better to do than finding fault with this precious organization!.
i would like to know more about the chariot wheels too....

I think it's an apt illustration... except I envision the thousands of people they run over, maim, and kill with that chariot.... left behind wounded, bleeding and dying for real answers.

Personally I think its a condition of the mind and heart. If you still believe in the doctrine and look at the organization with adoring eyes, than you're still a JW. I have grandparents that haven't gone to the meetings in years but were HORRIFIED to find out that I had stepped a foot in another church. They still buy into the rhetoric, and I consider them JW's. On the other hand, I've never been DF'd or DA'd, but my heart checked out of that place a loooong time ago, and I haven't considered myself JW in a long time.

3 babies contract Herpes becaue of a religious ritual
by pratt1 in.
i heard a very sad news item this morning on the way to work.. in upstate new york, a rabbi has been ordered to stop performing bris, using his mouth to suction the blood after 3 boys tested postive for herpes after receiving a bris from the same rabbi.. 2 of the boys a very sick and one has died.
apparently herpes can be deadly on the new ammune system of babies.. does anyone know anthing about this religious ritual - why would a rabbi use his mouth to suction blood from the baby?

It's so hard to see the little ones being involved. Very sad to see the brainwashing of the small youth, although theres always hope for them in the long run, but for now they're just doing what it takes to get the adults acceptance. (Ask me how I know) My children are being raised far far away from the organization (THANK GOODNESS) and I couldnt imagine having to explain to my first grader why she's being shunned.

Diary of a nobody
by New Worldly Translation inhi, i'm new to these forums so i thought i would share some experiences of when i was a jw.. i was born in 1976 into a staunch jw family.
my grandparents, parents, aunties, uncles, cousins etc etc were all jw's going back to the 1950's.
when i was a child my parents, like a lot of jw parents, didn't let me have worldly friends.

I've been "lurking" on this site for quite awhile now and it's just amazing to me how many people could be writing MY life story. I always wondered at myself and my inability to "just get over it" like I felt I should. It's been incredibly healing to find a group of such compassionate people who have "been there done that" and to different degrees still struggling to deal with the scars left over. It's so nice to know that you're not the only one!

what if???????????
by stopthepain inwhat do you think would happenif every x-jw showed up for a sunday meeting, with just a bible{any version you like}and a smiling face.everyone acted as if the borg had no control over them.i'm not saying be disrespectful, you just smile, and act as if you aren't under the societies authority.no literature,no rhetoric, just peace and humility.. .
that would make a statement!
ps.a strong young couple in my old hall just da'ed themselves,it made my day.

It would be great watching them try to ignore/shun the mass of XJW's packing their hall. Everyone could raise their hands at the WTS and give them the REAL answers!

Were You Really That Much Harmed Because You Were A Witness?

I'm sure it all depends on the individual and their personality. Some are just stronger and more resiliant than others. On the other hand I find it hard to believe that anyone could enter an organization based on lies, guilt, shunning and hypocrisy and leave unscathed. And it seems that most here could write volumes on how its affected them, and not in any positive ways.
