I'm can be stubborn in my opinions, but can usually be reasonable once I've had time to think the facts over. Sometimes it takes a bit of mulling on my part to clearly see anothers point of view without all the emotion of an argument.

Armageddon - Sept 2005: conclusive proof for the arithmetically challenged!
by slimboyfat inthey said it would come in 1975. they were wrong!
just like moses at the waters of meribah they presumed to speak for god when they had no business.
god made israel wait 40 years until moses died, and he is doing the same today!

I can see that most of you haven't been paying attention....
We will all have to accept SBF's teachings that 1975+40years=2005 as unquestionable truth and doctrine-
And we must "Wait on Slimboy" to see if these teachings will be corrected.
Those of you who question the math are "Independent Thinkers" and will be labeled "APOSTATES" and be afflicted with a horrific case of the flaming hemmorroids.
That is all...

What strikes me is the fact that the organization calls false teachings they believe other churches may have to be "nauseating"... but when they admittedly preach false teachings for years upon years they are simply "infallible" and all you have to do is wait it out. This seems like quite a double standard to me.

What Kind of Family Do You/ Did You Have While In The "Truth"?
by minimus inwas your family a supportive one?

were they hard asses whether they were jws or not?

My family is extremely kind and supportive....... as long as you're a JW.
Which means that most haven't spoken to me in years and when they do they treat me like a second class citizen.
Growing up I had the typical crappy childhood. My father had complete iron-fisted control over his family. I didn't dare speak my mind with him. Last time I talked to him was to invite him to my wedding (he didn't bother, no card either) and I still found myself trying to make him proud of me. That's something I will come to grips with in my head someday... the fact that I'll never be good enough for him.
The rest of my family is a mixed bag. Some flat out don't speak to me now, some do but obviously judge me. The less I speak to any of them the better. I find my mental health is much better when I don't have a whole lot of contact. I start to forget that I'm a BAD BAD person until I'm around them all again. ugh... I could write a book.

Total fluff-Ebay purchases and shipping charges
by CaptainSchmideo inhas anybody noticed the trend of a lot of sellers to lure you in with a low price, only to find, in very tiny print at the bottom, the cost of shipping "and handling" usually being as much as the product itself?
i have seen sellers charge $70.00 to send a "buy it now" item that costs $100.00.
insanity!.

I'm pretty sure anyone who's every used Ebay with any frequency's totally been burned and learned this one the hard way. It's so easy to start skimming over the fine print and be nailed with an outrageous shipping charge. Being in Alaska, I get pissed because people want to ship USPS and charge extra for shipping to me. I don't know which country they think I live in, but sending through the post office to me is the same as everywhere else. I'm not sure whats so hard about that concept.
My personal burn story... like an idiot I didn't check the fine print, I had been sifting through hundreds of auctions for a sewing pattern and just got sloppy. Didn't notice that this woman wanted all this extra money for shipping to Alaska. I grudgingly paid it... it WAS there in the fine print. When I got it to me it had cost the woman like $.75 or something to send it USPS. I paid $5.00 just for shipping. Argh. What a racket.
