Hey Everyone.
by Sam the Man ini've been lurking for some time and now its time for me to say hello.
i want to call myself sam on here to avoid any repercussions, whatever they may be i have learnt to cover my back in this life from the experiences i now ask if i may relate.
i was born into a black working class household in england to a mother who had remarried after splitting up with her first husband in barbados.

Welcome Sam
It was very encouraging to read your story - please post more - very encouraging for all to see it's not God's organisation - only men running the show.
I initially was very blase about the 'truth' and then read CofC and then both my husband and I did not attend meetings anymore. A real eye opener.
I'm sure you'll enjoy the board and have a lot to offer - thankyou alw

Mum has extended the olive branch...
by Frog inhi all my friends, i've been absent from posting for a few months.
snowed in with uni work, and just generally choosing to lie low.
but, i thought it was time to come out of hybernation to give you what i believe is some pretty good news with respects to the relationship that exists (or rather hasn't existed for a few years) with my jw mum.. a couple of years ago mum texted me to tell me that she received my letter to family in march just gone, but wasn't sure how to respond to it.

Hi Frog - lovely to have you back!!!! Also it was really encouraging to read about your renewed relationship with your mum (perhaps I'll be out of a job!). Seriously I hope things do work out for you and there is forgiveness on both sides. Life's too short, eh!!! Parents do get things wrong but it takes a lot of courage and humility to realise that we do - thankfully it seems that your Mum and and Dad have these qualiities.
Enjoy the ride - don't fall into the trap of a negative past - very easy to do - just enjoy the rest of your life with their association - enjoy the little things. Thinking of you with love. (Your adopted mum - alw) x

Are they still building?
by ozziepost inmrs ozzie and i were driving past bethel today and it occurred to me that things looked very quiet inside the gulag.. i got to wondering about all the frenetic activity of years gone by.

Hi Ozzie
We know of a couple who have gone over to Fiji to help on the branch over there. They were there for 3 months and then asked to go back for 6 months. Things must be a bit livelier over there - at least they'll think they are on holiday!!!!
Hope you and Mrs Ozzie are okay - hope to see you at the Cannyfest!!! Love to you both - alw

"Stumbling"
by tall penguin inbefore i disassociated myself a month ago, i sent out a brief letter to a few of my friends to let them know about my choice and my reasons for so choosing.
the responses varied.
one of the common responses i received was "i'm sorry you were stumbled.

Excellent piece of writing tall penguin - I hope they appreciate your honesty - although it will probably go over their head. You are one 'writer'. Thanks for the post. alw
