The story of my life (part 13- Disfellowshipped)
by onacruse inso here i was, in my late 20s, and in the late 1970s, disfellowshipped.. .
to offer a bit of perspective: being dfd then was not like it had been before, or since.
for a period of several years (1973-1980, as i recall), the wts had "lightened up" on the amount of communication that was "allowed" between dfd people and other jws, especially when it was family.

I've been debating on whether or not to share this...but here goes
by findingmyway infor those of you who will be disgusted that i even attended the meeting, let alone allow my son to give his first public talk tonight, please, spare me the shouting messages.
i take full responsibility for what i experienced this evening.
yet, i feel the need to share this experience that has me enraged.

Findingmyway - you have a right to be hurt - angry - upset!!!!! How dare they? Thinking of you and hugs - keep demonstrating how much you love your son and he'll see how unconditional it is - alw

I'm just numb! :-( I need to vent!
by caz ini have just witnessed for myself one of the most hypocritical scenes ever before in my life!
my sister's ex husband, ( father to 3 boys, 12, 15, 20 years) commited suicide a few days ago.
he has been a jehova's witness all of his life and and also suffered from bi polar disorder for most of it also, particularly bad in the past 3 years.

Thanks for sharing your story FreedomLover - it is a great encouragement to a lot of people here. Thankfully my husband and I have 'seen the light' also. We have been fading coming up to 2 years now. It's still a struggle with emotions at times but thankfully we are united in the process. Continue learning and enjoy the journey. alw

Hi - read the book after not setting foot in a Kingdom Hall for a while - problems (hypocrisy - lack of trust) - a fantastic read which brought a lot of emotions - never went back to the Kingdom Hall and it reinforced our feelings - we did not have the troof!!!!! We have both read it now and thankfully we are enjoying our family life to the hilt!!! It's great - thanks Ray for your wonderful insight into the borg!!!! Freedom without hypocrisy. alw

The story of my life (part 12- My first committee)
by onacruse ini title this part this way because i was, over the course of the next couple of years, involved with so many committees (one way or another) that, even though i wasn't an elder, i almost felt like one...as subsequent parts will show.. in any case, it was inevitable that my smoking would be found out.
to his credit, the brother that approached me did as the bible says he should do: he approached me privately, inviting me to voluntarily broach my error with an elder.
of course, as much as i respected, and still have no reason to disrespect, this friend, there was the clearly implicit threat that "if you don't, i will have to.".

Just sayin Howdy
by forsharry ini saw that other people had done this and i figured it would be a good way to introduce myself.
i've been reading many of the threads and let me tell you that it's comforting to read that others feel the same way i have felt about being in the organization.
i'm not sure how much i can contribute as far as delectible tidbits of information, but i have replied to a couple of threads to, if nothing else, interject some 'humor' into things.

by Sheepish ini guess i should do this in some beginning way, i am new here and still learning my way around the site.. i was raised in a divided household, and my mom taught us in secret.
when my dad found out the insuing religious wars pretty much marked me for life.
