You are right on giving experiences from 20 or more years (as if it was just happening now!) had a pioneer sister comment about a family who has their two kids listen each night to Bible Story tapes and the kids just love to do this each night at bedtime, as they fall asleep.

Real Story:This was about 15 years ago, family split up a year later, Mother goes to another "Wordly Church", Df'd, father has drinking problem, trouble with other JW's he rented from, was Df'd. Mother moves away to get away from him. Perhaps today their are happy Christians.

So much for relating family experiences. I wanted to ask her how recent was her experience as it sounded old but familar, but instead I bolted from the meeting, resolved not to return.

607 date

ive just left the jws well got dfed a month ago!

but family want me back so im trying to prove to myself that it isnt true, top get the strength not to go back,i heard the 607 date may be false, can anyone show me about that, i know exactly what the jws say and cant believe the intial date is wrong, is it?

According to phone call to the WTS rest of the world has historical dates wrong from 607 BCE backwards BECAUSE: Bible shows that temple was destroy in 607 BCE , proof being that the year 537 BCE Cyrus issued his decree that Jews could go back to their homeland Jerusalem and rebuild the house of Jehovah. After having had 70 years of exile/captivity and the city remaining desolate just add 70+537 and you have 607BCE for the destruction of the temple. Oh by the way doing the math from 539 BCE for the reign of the 5 Babylonian Kings supported by secular the WTS publications is just "Traditional Math", you have to start WTS historical dates from 607BCE based on Bible.

Oh by the way 607BCE has nothing to do with 1914 date and using the Dandiel 4:16,25(Seven times ) for 2520 yrs + 607 to get 1914 just happened to work out that way. They are not forcing dates using their understanding of the exile for Babylon being 70 years. If you need more information on the proof of the complete desolation you have to write them for it because they are not publishing for all JW's, apparently this food is special order. Has anyone written for or have possession of that special food that they could share with us here?

Also, for those who may care Russell's pyramid study in the (They Kingdom Come) aka Studies of the Scriptures Vol III published 1891 he had the measurements for Christ Return to be 1874 then changed the measurements and date to 1914 in the second printing in the 1908 printing. Amazing that the bait and switch game started from the beginning.

I have not written then but when I call the same brother on the UN and 607BCE date he told me to write requesting the material to support data that they do not publish. UN did email me back with response that there had been no change and NGO membership was not required for library access, which I already knew. Elder called me the other night to encourage me to go the Ministry School, told him I was currently in the process of studying with my bible, Greek Interlinear, King James Bible and did not see that going to meeting to figure out how to mark the boxes for the week for family study would help me compared to what I was studying at home that night. I know it is only a matter of time. Told Elder of my conversations with WTS and that I had to write for more information, he thought that was really good!!!! Am I missing something here????

CoonDawg do you have the link for further information on the Canada lawsuit? I would like to access more details, so any additional information would be appreciated.

did finding out that the 607 date was wrong matter to any of you?

and doesn't that in fact make all the other dates fall apart?

or did you rationalize and say what's 20 years or so?

You can call the Society and talk with a very nice man who will tell you that the 587 vs 607 is only 20 years. Also, that 607 is correct by taking the 537 date adding 70 years of exile and you get 607. That the Society is not trying to force prophesy to get the 607 plus 2520 to equal 1914 thus 1919 for the appointment of the FDS by Christ. Just not true he said.

Also, if you want more information the Society has it but it is not available to publishers without you writing a letter to request it and they will explain more, like determining the how they date the complete devastation and uninhabited Jerusalem.

For some reason they do not want to address this 607 date and all the dates backwards from 607 as not matching with historical everyone else seem to agree on, even those countries where the events took place. Look at the dates from 607 backwards on any timeline website and everything is changed in history according to the WTS. When I asked how you can take the 539 date and do the math for the 5 Babylonian Kings (Thank You Kiss Thread) which match the reigns in number of years with Society articles that you do get to 587/587 and I was told that was because I was doing "Traditional Math", yes I think that I did the match right, but not according to the Society. You have to start with a date picked out of the air and then do the historical years backwards. Oh well, it was interesting, I have not written for the "other" insights from the Society yet and if they are reading this now, why isnt this "food" available to all believers.

Also why not put a disclaimer on all the written materials that all the dates do not match secular history rather than like the old Daniel Book page 197 a box on Historians disagree regarding year of reign of Persian King Artzerex and a coregency between Xerxes and his father, Darius. No where in the book does it state all the other dates do not agree with historians & secular history as well.

I feel that I have believed what I was studing when historical dates were given would be what the rest of the World also accepted until I came across the 607 date and checked it out, now I feel that I have been lied to again and again and that no matter what is presented to the Society they will never accept or acknowledge the dates because the house of cards will fall.

Who Was Shocked By the Watchtower UN NGO Scandal?

i'd like to get comments from people about whether and how much they were shocked, surprised, or otherwise bothered by the watchtower society's becoming an associated non-governmental organization (ngo).. note that i'd like to see these comments because they might lead to some interesting publicity, so please comment accordingly.. alanf

I too was shocked about the UN since only finding about it on this website. I did speak with the Society last week and was told that I needed to speak with the person handling any questions on the UN issue, since this really is Old Business it still must be getting a lot of questions. The Long and short of my conversation is that it was done only because they were told to have continued access to the library they had to fill out this simple form "like filling out for a library card" and when asked if they asked for confirmation of this requirement to be put in writing was told No. My question was how could the Society join the BEAST just be a library clerk telling them verbally. I asked the person if he had seen the application and he said No, I asked if I could get a copy of it and he said I could write and ask but he did not know. I told him of my disappointment of their decision and I found it had to believe that the 1991 Awake was not prepared exactly for purpose of application to UN as a NGO and he said that was not the case. Told him to read any articles prior to 1991 and the wording is no way close to that article and those after the fact. He said it was unfortunate but as soon as they found out what NGO required they stopped membership. I told him it was very strange that it just happened to be in line with the disclosure by the Guardian newspaper article.

This just goes along with their having articles to share to those who inquire about the 607 dating based on 537 plus 70 yrs of exile to get to 607 for fall of Jerusalem. Yet when asked how can the whole world be wrong and only WTS right based on prophecy they can rewite history from 607 BCE to Adam. When I asked if they were keeping a date (607) to get to 1914 by adding 2520 years from Daniel. He said No but I told him it just fits for forcing prophecy to keep dates and God's only channel in 1919. When I spoke of taking the Babylonian Kings list from "Your Will Be Done" and doing the math for each Kings Reign you will get to 586/587, but was told that was because I was doing "traditional math", and finding the Bible's dates more trustworthy, (even when I reminded him the Bible does not get YEARS). There is no changing their minds I am just one cog on the wheel to be replaced by another new one. Again Thank you for the KISS posting.

This is all so sad to me after 20+ years just accepting dates being in agreement with history not realizing that I was being duped. However I am sharing my Truth with those that will listen.

Why would it matter how long Ray Franz had been collecting his information (data) I know for myself it has been at least six months that I have been researching and coming to terms with my inner most thoughts and to think of publishing them would be at least another year or so. Are you feeling that to have such an amount of detail is implying something other than being able to speak completely from a truthful point of view? I thought this was a rather strange thought to ponder. Each of us have at one time or another had to come to the decision to accept or reject the evidence. I am forever grateful to Ray Franz for having the guts to do what he did, it could not have been easy. Broad and narrow is the road to individuality.

I finished CoC and now reading In Search of Christain Freedom, both are excellent and if a JW and in search of "Truth" you owe it to yourself to have these books to add to your own knowledge base in order to make sure in YOUR OWN MIND.

I am meeting with elders next week to take phase one- 607BCE which more importantly means why change history to keep 1914 date. I thank this site for the research that has been of great help.

My next meeting after that is why I do not feel WTBS is the sole channel but merely men like all religions, organized for their purpose to believe they are serving God in the right way, which we all have that same right to search out for what is right for us individually as we grow spiritually. Only problem is JW Unity is a force unity-fear of rejection (shunning) and not unity of love. For that I am sure I will experience one of these days.

Trust in God and read this book.

Daniel's Prophecy, 605 BCE or 624 BCE?

hello all, i've been reading your site for a couple of years now, and have found, for the most part, it to be very helpful.

i must say, at first i was very "scared" at what i might find, but contrary to what i grew up learning, there is a "wealth" of information outside of the watchtower organization.

i haven't attended meetings for about two years now, and like many i've read about, have spent many hours researching, telling myself "i'm not wrong for searching", and doing more research.

Told Elder yesterday that the Ark is not the organization it is Jesus Christ. He stopped by to check in since I was not at the meeting again. He mentioned the WT Study and I asked him how many times was Jesus mentioned and why where all the examples from OT if this was about our Christian Identity? Thanks so much Blondie!

Then told him I was studying more than ever and I was not lacking any zeal or apathetic in my spiritual life in fact I was testing everything I read to the Bible, but he brought up the paragraph from the Study about this and asked what the second portion of the article was and I told him I remembered it was to not to go to outside sources (such as Internet and apostate site, my comment) I told him that since my question to him was about 607 could he really say that everyone, even the Countries whoes history is in the Bible, could they all have it wrong and just the Society has it right to force a date of 1914? Told him I will put my research together soon and we can sit down and go over it and go from there. Asked me if I was saying that I did not think this was God's only Channel and told him from what I am reading old and new history I can say right now I dont think it is but open to them showing me why it is. Also told him I did not appreciate having articles always referring what the bible students in early 1870's understood and then plug in 1914 and Christ presence when that was clearly not what they understood, to me that was a "white lie" and God does not lie, so how can this be his only channel.

I do care for this elder and know he is trying to do what is right in his mind. Asked if he could say a prayer and said he could as long as he did not ask for my spiritual strength, as I am strong. Asked if he could pray for increasing light in my research and said yes as I pray that everyday. The journey has begun.

Believe in 607 BCE or you are not one of Jehovah's Witnesses

if a jw states that 607 bce is incorrect, how long will it take before the elders announce from the platform to the congregation that the person is "no longer one of jehovah's witnesses"?

You have got to be kidding, do you really believe what you just said (Double Talk) will be accepted as fact and evidence, are you sure you are not part in the WT writing department? Would you be willing to state which college your have your degree from (no Theocractic Warfare)? I really can't believe you can be on this and other sites this long as you have been and still be a JW, or perhaps you want to just have some fun, which is it?
