No "New Light".
This was discussed in 1966 in the book "Life Everlasting in Freedom of the Sons of God" on a left-hand page somewhere around page 156. (The book is not found on the CD-ROM.) Also, page 374 (maybe) of the 1974 Watchtower.
im not very articulate and find it hard to explain myself but here goes-------------------.
i always wondered (not too deeply).
everything was about the hope for a resurrection in heaven, nothing about an earthly paradise.

did anyone realise that this was the case when they became a witness or just realise through time that this is the societies teaching on it?
.
each year i get annoyed at the memorial when the speaker giving the talk always refers to this point and then says how the other sheep (the great crowd) "can benefit from this arrangement".
I never agreed with the Society on that doctrine. Not even when I was a member of the "Other Sheep". It simply was not reasonable (or Scriptural). But it is surprising how many JW's were/are unaware of that teaching...
comments you will not hear at the 6-18-06 wt study (april 15, 2006 issue date, pages 27-31)(king).
review comments will be in red.
wt material from today's wt will be in black.
Christ's loyal "other sheep" keenly await their King's approving declaration: "Come, you who have been blessed by my Father, inherit the [earthly Paradise realm of the] kingdom prepared for you from the founding of the world." (John 10:16; Matthew 25:34)
Please compare 1 Cor. 15:50: "[F]lesh and blood cannot inherit God's kingdom..."
and stuffed the invitations under most of the doors around my building.
funny, i didn't get any, guess the holy spirit didn't want me to be invited to the dc
Save those invitations!!!
In forty years, they'll be worth plenty on EBAY!!!!
If the "apostates" are Russellites, the answer is NONE.
(They very much prefer the "Old Light".)
a week or so ago, i quoted from m. james penton's "apocalypse delayed: the story of jehovah's witnesses.
" a number of you commented on it, so i thought i'd do it again.
here he comments on the worst features of the new world translation.
How about translating "epi tes ges" as "in the land" rather than "on the earth" at HEBREWS 11:13?
the watchtower magazine has used the word "soon" on many an occasion to point out to its readership how near armageddon really is.. a word that can mean anything, in effect, actually means nothing.
consequently, let's examine what "soon" actually means by definition and use.. there can only be three stages of time:.
wouldn't you agree with that?
Perhaps his "coming soon" is simply referring to his arrival among the "seven lampstands" to deal with the spiritual problems he found among those congregations. (cf. Rev. 2:16)
i stopped going out in service about a year ago.
just couldn't take it anymore.
after that, i still continued "studying" with my kids and "counting the time" for that.
Matthew 6:1
Yep. I've used that one, myself. And at the time it appeared to have worked.
when i was a kid, my parents (strong in the truth: father elder, mother regular pioneer) encouraged me to read.
in reality, they could hardly have held me back; i come from a long line of bookworms, including my father.
books were like water.
I think people like old "Jesus Eyes"(man, that's a good one) are the self-appointed guardians of "the truth". If Jah sees everything you do, then why do people like old "Jesus Eyes" feel they have to go around snooping? Why can't they just "wait on Jehovah" to correct you?Warlock
That's what the "Dear Sister" thought Jehovah was doing -- correcting our friend USING HER.
well gang, let me tell you a little bit about what is going on in my world.
for about the past 2 years i've gone through all the formations and as many of you have known from reading my posts i've pretty much have moved way beyond the watchtower in my mind many months ago.
coming to this board has helped with the process much, as well as getting my hands on alot of good reading material.
Drew,
Disclaimer: I don't know your wife; the following may be truly lousy advice.
Fish or cut bait. Right now you're just waffling. Do something dramatic and final.
Discuss with your wife an issue that the Watchtower CANNOT sucessfully address. Get her to agree that the issue is meaningful and deserves -- indeed, requires -- a reasonable answer. Tell her that you will get a straight answer from Bethel. Send a certified letter to Bethel and let them fail to give a reasonable answer, or order your expulsion.
Your wife will be unable to simply bow to the WTS' self-granted authority when she sees their "loving concern" up close and personal. What manner of Organisation persecutes people for asking a meaningful question?!?!
Good luck and God bless.
