You should be fine so long as you don't drop dead in front of them . But you should probably stay away from large logs, etc. Who knows whether or not they are protective of their nests! Yikes -- a 6 foot wing span is taller than me .

Turkey Vultures select undisturbed nesting sites in a variety of habitats. They prefer caves and crevices in cliffs or rocky outcroppings but will nest on the ground under a log or stump. Except for a little scraping of the chosen surface no effort is put into the nest building process. Two creamy-white eggs with brown to faint purple splotches are laid and both parents incubate them. The rather unattractive naked young hatch in about 40 days and the adults brood them continually for a further 5 days. After that period the parents leave the young increasingly alone and will reduce the feeding to two or three times a day. The ungainly, dark headed babies will fledge at about 65 to 70 days and the family generally stays together until the next breeding season. The pair bond is strong and some birds may become lifelong mates.
Could you possibly have a nest nearby? Maybe so if it's mating season...
since a second person in our church faced criminal charges of paedophilia, the church decided to get serious about taking steps to ensure the safety of children in the congregation (n.b.
there is no-one currently in the church that are victims of these two - both the "gentlemen" in question did what they did decades ago).
our boys go to the church youth group on a friday night and can walk there (20-25mins) but usually need a lift back (it's dark) and especially if the group is going somewhere, like to ten pin bowling (we don't drive).
Were they not wise enough to have thought of two men getting into a car and taking your son home prior to taking themselves home. Personally, it sounds to me like they didn't want to be inconvenienced by the new policy or they would have erred on the side of safety by carpooling your son home then going back so they could then proceed home separately themselves. A bit out of the way, yes... In compliance of the policy, yes. I'm glad your wife let them have it! A phone call was the least they could have done...
so my mother suprised me about a week ago by telling me we are going on a bus trip to bethel from april 13-17. for those of you who aren't used to this concept, american dubs seem to think that packing themselves on the bus with 60 other witnesses and driving for 4 days is somehow going to strengthen themselves spiritually.
well, i doubt that will work for me.
i was just wondering, is there anything i should look for/ be on the alert for?
Be strong brother! My daughter is 10 and she will be visiting Bethel with her Grandmother (my ex's mom) this summer. We talked about it and I told her it will be good for her to see where the little group of men who write there opinions about the Bible in the WTBTS literature live. Hopefully, she will be able to see that it is just a glorified publishing company.
dear alcohol,
first & foremost, let me tell you that i'm a huge fan
as my friend, you always seem to be there when needed.
That's too funny
I have this one on my wall at work:
"Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drank I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver." -- Jack Handy

why were david and bath-sheba not put to death for committing adultery, whereas their newborn son died?.
The Bible was pretty clear on the matter in this scripture. The blow was struck directly by God according to the account.
I am more and more so getting to the point where I believe the Bible is a book written and then translated by men, which leaves lots of room for error. It's an imperfect book written by imperfect men. I refuse to believe that God would kill an innocent child because the dad is a butthead...
I do believe in a loving God and I do believe for the most part that it was inspired by God. I'm not going to twist what's said in the Bible to make it fit my view of a perfect God though... The Bible says what is says and that to me means I need to take what I want and leave the rest behind just as I do with anything written by a man or woman for that matter.
I prefer to look at God through rose colored glasses and I know that's an idealistic view. Kind of funny because I usually tend to be more realistic.
I believe we are inherently good and therefore it makes sense to me that our Creator is also inherently good. I do not believe that just because a man wrote something awful about God and it happened to make it into the Bible that it must be so. Many men have done and said awful things in the name of God (9/11 is a good example).

just got my copy of crisis of conscience.

Deep breaths JB Try not to get to heated up while reading the truth about the truth It's a long read but so worth it. He's so thorough and covers all his bases.
recently i got engaged.
the problem is we are going to have a pagan wedding according to our beliefs.
my mother, a devout jw, already knows that we are getting married so i can't not invite her to the wedding.
Think about it. Do JWs warn you about their wedding practices prior to your going? No... So why should you be required to warn your mom. This is your day. She either wants to be a part of it or does not.
I say, "Invite her and leave it at that."

sad_and_lonely:
I agree it is not the JWs that killed the newborn child but they do justify God's actions in doing so. They condone the belief that children should be killed as a result of their parents' sins. If they agree with the belief and they defend the belief then they can be held accountable for their views.
though the other religions don't get picked on
As for the above comment you made... C'mon now. You really need to come out from under the "only JWs receive persecution" rock you are living under. We are all held accountable for our beliefs, including other religions outside the JW organization. The JWs bash every other religion and person under the sun that is not affiliated with the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society! They can dish it out without any consideration to the feelings of others outside their cult so they should be able to take it ten fold in my opinion.
