  so why didn't you think you were in a cult when you were a jdub?

  my "worldly" husband always told me i was in a cult when we were dating..i didn't believe him.

  but, to this day i still don't know why i didn't agree with him.

  I think it was because we all believed this was GODS chosen religion. It couldn't possibly be a cult if GOD was behind us.

  i'm trying to come up with ideas for a halloween costume!

  the kids have already decided.

  my 4 yr old told my wife "don't let daddy be the cow this year, he was so silly..." so my cow costume from last year is out!.

  it seems to me that all the jw's i knew while going to the meetings, weather they were spiritually strong or weak, never criticized.

  they were like real sheep.. i used to always bitch about the length of the meetings and the time of the meetings and so on.....when i drove the brothers back home in my car or talked to them in private.. naturally i would only say this to my closer jw friends or those i knew wouldn't squeal on me.. .

  Oh did my in-laws ever complain. Heck, we all did!!

  That is until I quit going and got DF'd. Now - they don't say too much - and what they do say has a "positive spin."

  for those who didn't attend meetings for a while, imagine that you just walk into your kingdom hall 10 minutes before a meeting.

  what would be their reaction?

  Well they would be really upset for having to clean up the puke I would spew all over the place from being sick due to the love bombing! I get shivers when I just DRIVE by the hall....

  I don't want to think about how fake most people would be towards me....

  i've been lurking here and reading for a couple of months now.

  i was also a jw for a few years but got myself dfed when i started asking difficult questions, wouldn't stop asking them, and kept pointing out how the wts didn't make any sense.

  i am an unrepentent rebellious one who was warned and publically reproved until finally i finally had it out with the elders and they showed me the door.

  Ohhh MY GOD did they ever!!!

  This is one BIG thing I resent. I should have stood up for myself more and put them in their place. I shouldn't have allowed them to make me feel like crap and like a horrible person just for being a kid!

  I blame them for my lack of confidence for so many years. Growing up and being compared to "daughter elder" isn't easy. Being told anything you do or wear isn't good enough.... geez.

  I would vacation a lot with my family when I was younger. We rarely went to the KH, unless we had relatives in that area.

  However for some odd reason my husband and I decided to visit the KH while our honeymoon in Hawaii. We even have pictures of the sign.... what a way to spend a morning when we could have been sleeping in or on the beach!!! ack!

  Our wounds will eventually heal as deep as they may...but we will always be able to see the scars and need help covering them up.

  i am a 45 year old man who has lived a single life for so long, for too long.

  i have dated several in the past few years andhave got serious a time or two.

  but it never fails when someone comes along that really trips your trigger, you fall so hard for someone who really fits your wants needs and desires in everyway a man could want and then it happens.

  Maybe the answer to your question is these women have no self respect. They may feel they don't deserve a truly good, repectful guy such as yourself?! They don't know how to deal with someone who won't beat them and make them feel like crap.

  Be patient...the right someone WILL come along, and it'll be worth the wait!
