Planned, talked about....but didn't go........
by 95stormfront inmy wife has been talking up how much she wanted to attend this weekend's one day assembly in rosenburg.
she made all these big plans, had her hair done, been dropping hints all month that she would like it if i attended with her.
(i had no intention of going and listening to that garbage.).

I really can relate to that........I actually justified it in my mind........like.......I was gonna go .....I wanted to go, I planned to go....and even sometimes I was dressed to go and never went. I physically even felt bad those days, like a valid excuse for not going!
I think I went through all this .......getting ready as a habit.
I like to think I was slowly breaking the habit, kind of like when I quit smoking I would hold an unlit cigarette and pretend to smoke it!
Now I don't say I am gonna go. And I don't feel guilty either.

Did anyone applaud the release of the OD book at YOUR hall?
by proplog2 inthere had been some buzz because no one was supposed to know about the release.. i swear everyone at my hall must be visitors to this forum.
or the elder's wives network must've done their usual job of telling everyone.. i would have expected an applause.
not even a line of people to get the book.

The Theocratic Ministry School and the Service Meeting are the most poorly attended meetings...
Blondie,
I thought of that too. some of the stuff in the book is already being done. Like book study conductor being changed to overseer. I think they realized they were tardy in getting the book out. Otherwise they would have waited till convention or an assembly. I don't know.......There was such hype about everyone all over the globe getting it at the same time. I know at a JW site I am still at, the administrators sent a special Email asking all those getting the news of what was going on today, (some thought it was just an annoucement) not to post till everyone was able to get the info from thier own congregations. As not to ruin the surprise!
I don't really know what they think. I am glad you brought to our attention about turning in time as I have not turned in time for 3 months and soon will be considered inactive.

When I changed book study groups I did not get a KM for three months, even with repeatedly asking for one. Has she been assigned to another group?
I was not inactive. I got rather discouraged. Now I get KM's and I don't even get to meetings.
Crazy!

Have you experienced a Tornado?
by jeanniebeanz intoday, a small tornado touched down in south san francisco and people went nutz.
it was very localized and basically blew out a few windows, but looking at the local news you'd think that the sky was falling.
since some of you live in 'tornado alley', can you please enlighten us californians as to what you consider to be a 'real' tornado?

I live in Arkansas and have seen the destruction of many tornadoes. They are not taken lightly at all here. Whole towns have been just about flattened. I have seen straw that was blown into concrete silos..........like a nail driven in a board. The tops of trees covered with aluminum and insulation. Dumpsters moved across the road from where it originally was......Cars turned over.
I was driving through a town that was hit about 6 years ago..............furniture scattered all over. Roofs totally gone. There was a toilet in the middle of a road with a sign on it........Do I belong to you ?
I was in a tornado about 20 yrs ago. We lived on the side of a cliff in Little Rock. We took cover under a viaduct. The tornado came over us like with the sound of a train. The grass was laid over flat to the ground. We were ok .........but there was alot of damage close to where we lived.
I have seen a bridge totally gone from a tornado picking the water up from the lake and demolishing it.
Whew!!!!!!!!!!! and on and on!
San Francisco is such a beautiful city. I was there last year. Hope you never get what we see here.

Bryan,
So what does it mean?
I don't know. I was trying to remember when they had special talk, or have they had it? I was so surprised that a book that is only for witnesses would be released on a Sunday and not during Ministry School/Service meeting. Its not really something the public needs to be privvy to. What's your thoughts on that?

NEW BOOK EXCERPT..WORTH NOTING.
by integ inas you've heard, the new book "organized to do jehovahs will" was released today.
here is an excerpt that i trust you will "appreciate", in regards to getting involved with the "world".. ' ..a christian might renounce his faith by his actions, such as by becoming part of a secular organization that has objectives contrary to the bible, and hence, is under judgement by jehovah god.
(isa, 2:4) if a person chooses to join those who are disapproved by god, a brief announcement is made to the congregation, stating: "[ name of person] is no longer one of jehovahs' witnesses.

I still think it puts pressure on family members that have inactive ones, to make it back or have the risk of being announced as No longer a Jehovahs Witness. I don't know why they can't just leave well enough alone.

I think about the timing of releasing it.........Right before the Memorial. I mean everyone is supposed to be focusing on what the Memorial means right now. The daily text preparing for it. And then right in the middle of it releasing this book.....seems rather disrespectful to me. What do you think about the timing ???
