Sharing birthdays with famous people
by target inwhen my husband was convinced to be baptized back in '74, the jw who studied with my husband went with him to meet with the elders.
when the elder asked for my husband's birthday for his records, he said nov 12 and the jw says "not my birthday, he wants yours".
my husband says, "it is mine".

page 188 Middle of Chapter Predictions and Presumptions
I wish I had paid more attention to all this prophecy stuff.........It was all too cunfusing for me. After getting this far into the book my conscience is allowing me to skip Sunday meeting without guilt, to finish this book.
I have not read the daily text for awhile .......today's text is-
John 8:47 - He that is from God listens to the sayings of God.
I felt encouraged.

What's your take on morality?
by Narkissos inas former jws we were part of a highly moralising religion.
we have experienced the disastrous consequences of it in terms of hypocrisy, judgementalism or pathologic guilt.
most of us have changed our "moral parameters" drastically, but how far have we gone in questioning morality itself?.

but how far have we gone in questioning morality itself
Well, I think those that have broke away from the JW's have a much higher sense of morality. Morality in principle, not so much law. We are moral to our conscience. We might be more prone to watch a questionable movie or swear ........you get what I mean, but on issues of greater importance the morals are very high. Adultry, truth, loving your neighbor uncondionally etc. Exposing lies and deceit, manupulation and then warning others.
We are going higher if that makes sense than the simplicity of what the witness teaching is.
I'm not very smart .....someone will understand what I am saying and say it better (I HOPE)

The word I got on the closing of JW chat at about.com was that over the years it was operating the room they had the most complaints ....from witnesses, about what was going on there. And the JW moderaters fought to keep it. They would win because the hits at JW site were of the highest.
I could be all wrong. I did feel like the information about the doctrone of what the witnesses believe was misrepresented at about.com. I don't think it was apostate just misrepresented out of ignorance.
There is a circle of us that have survived all the chatting changes online through the five years when we first met at about.com. I have met many from Australia and other countries. Many, many from the US.
It was the best place to be as anyone could be there and say anything they wanted. Nothing was censored. You sharpened your skills of defense and offense. I was mostly an observer when it came to warding off unwanted ones and think I only had the balls once to tangle with you. Probably licked my wounds a considerable amount of time afterwards.
But mostly it was a great deal of fun and I miss it from time to time. It really took a great deal of energy to be there. The chatting was fast and furious.

I just did an evil
by seven006 ini went down to the local 7/11 a few miles from my house to by some 7/11 stuff.
as i was standing at the counter i glanced out at my car to see a little cheerleader wannabe girl leaning against it.
she was drinking a slushy type drink talking to her bubble gum little chicky buddies in her mom's new lincoln navigator next to my car.

Dave,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. As a woman that was once only arm dressing for someone, it's nice to hear something from a mans perspective. I hope this person I knew long time ago grows as you have.
purps
ps There is no way I want to decieve anyone that I was anywhere near the model material this woman was. Just young and in my prime.

I got tickets 6 months in advance for Dave Matthews. nosebleed. through ticketmaster
Two days before the concert my neighbor downstairs gets tickets next to the stage. I was enraged.
What I found out is that sections close to the stage are closed until the production people come to see if set-up needs them. They open the sections the general public at the last minute if not needed. It's a risk but I have held out for better seats to see Eric Clapton and John Mayer.
I love Santana and Los Lonely Boys. LLB will be in Memphis and New Orleans at the end of April.
I know you are fuming.

thanks sKally,
I never thought I would be thanking you for anything. Talking about someone that could disrupt an entire chatroom of JW's you could. We were all mush by the time we got rid of you!!!!!!
I am on page 122....and although I highlighted certain points.......this is when the little stars came out in the outside margins.
"How many favorable decisions would the Witnesses have recieved if the Supreme Court justices had not shown such judicious wisdom, such ability to see where the real issue lay, such concern for the individual? Their decisions were applauded in the Society's publications. Sadly, however, the high standards of judgment and the approach to emotionally charged issues shown by these judges often appered to be on a higher level than manifested in many Governing Body sessions. "
Man, if that don't get ya I don't know what will?
Love to all for taking the courage to make a stand and support each other and encourage others in the way you do.

our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God...within us.
It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And when we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other
people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
I just typed out a huge thought provoking thread about spiritual growth/personal growth, but lost it due to only being able to do two a 24 hr period (sorry I was such a hog)
What a wonderful post, now I know why I lost mine!!!!!
Don't let the org take away your dreams, hopes, talents, loves, passions and desires for some time in the future when you can have them right now, It is not selfish. It is loving and giving.
Celebrate yourself!!!!
