Are they showing people in the ancient robe atire? or are they wearing todays clothing?
The cover shows a group of nicely dressed modern day people from different culcural backgrounds looking slighty up and to their right. That's why I feel it's deceptive. If the picture would have been of people that were dressed in 1914 vintage clothing with beards and tophats and had they not been looking skyward, my impression would have been different. seek2find

The reason I felt that this paticular article was deceptive was because It used the title about Jesus comming that most non witnesses associate with Jesus words at Matt. 24:3 which the NWT translates as "Presence". I just hope some householders ask when the magazine is offered to them something like this. "Oh, I thought Jehovah's Witnesses thought Jesus returned in 1914" And then ask the publisher to explain. This could turn out as confusing in some minds as the Article in yesterdays Watchtower Study about the first resurection. Somehow I don't beleive Jesus intended the Gospel message to be near this confusing. seek2find

i'm just listening to some classical music online at work and the piece "die meistersinger, overture" is on- so many of its phrases (or whatever you call little sections of the song) are totally the same as some kingdom melodies... .
right now i can hear "look i am making all things new" (or whatever the actual title is) in wagners piece.... .

jws say to do research in society publications and the bible but when you do research and see something that doesn't make sense that is being taught, and you question it----you are told not to research and leave things in jehovah's hands so that he can help you to understand things according to his will.
if you research or even read an older publication printed by "the slave", and you express that there is a different thought or viewpoint or even a "flip-flop" in understanding, you will be counseled to keep such observations to yourself.. have you seen examples of jws telling you to do one thing but in reality doing just the opposite?.
Maximus, This is a good question and one that I think lurkers and doubters need to really think about. They (the Society) like to encourage people to research there on Religion, but only if it's another one besides being a witness. In that case (DON'T DO ANY RESEARCH!! trust everything and doubt nothing). Then again there is the counsel to always speak the truth.... Unless your a parent involved in a child custody issue, or if you're an elder on the witness stand and are ask if there is a child custody packet or if ... Oh well you get my drift. It's OK not to be truthfull ONLY if not doing so will make the Orginization look better. Double standards are one of my biggest pet-peeves. seek2find
Mouthy, I watched it on the web this morning and she did a great Job. I thought it was really cool that the Camera focused on her Bible that was oppened to proverbs chapter 3. Because I've been thinking about that very chapter this last week. John 8:32 has really proved true to her. I'm really happy for her. seek2find

This dude seems to have an abnormal facination for sexual topics which may or may not be typical of some JW's. (I've known both types) At any case, it sounds like he has stero-typed you as some sort of pervert (without any knoweledge of what he's talking about) and is trying to link that to your leaving the orginazation. i have listened to this several times - it has aided my healing.
I have been somewhat impressed by the Calvary Chapel story. I think the story can be learned about in a book avalible on line called "Harvest" by Chuck Smith, I read quite a bit, though not all. It is a collection of real life experiances starting with Chuck himself and then other associates of his. Greg Laurie was one and there are some others, but I can't remember their names right now. Anyway it's a good read and I do recomend it. seek2find
