If Children grow up in the Truth but never get Baptized, why no shunning?

i kind of understand the "never made the real commitment" part, but isn't learning the "truth" for 15 to 20 years, and going out into the "world" as opposed to committing,... the same as choosing to not accept jehover's (aka wts) ways and be with the brothers and sisters in union?.

why is the shunning treated different?

is it because, there's always hope by the parents, that they will come around?, etc.. .

Where the double standard really shows itself is in a social setting like a wedding or a death. The disfellowshipped is not allowed to eat a meal or even be present in some cases, but the actively sinning lifelong associating non baptized "witness" is welcomed and consoled with open arms. This is a situation that begs for an answer to the question. Where's the consistencey here??? seek2find

I thought about reading her book, but that Idea has been nixed due to my watching this video. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Disrespect is not an option for those who want to remain Christian. I felt that Ray Franz set a good example in "Crisis of Conscience" in telling his story and at the same time still expressing love and respect for some who chose to remain Loyal. I don't have the book any longer but I seem to recall him speaking fondly Of Lyman Swingle for one. To bad Brenda had to stoop to this level. seek2find

here's what i know that happened a few years ago with my elder uncle.

i have my suspicions that i know what happened.

Renee, I agree with the post above. If there has been any confession or proof of Child abuse in the past, he will never be allowed a position again. That is the only thing (I think) that would render him unuseable as a servant forever. I know of one individual that is in that situation right now for something that happened many years ago. It puts an everlasting stain on ones record. Funny thing is tho, the congregation is not notified of this. So if the person still has tendencies for this kind of behavior, they are still available to take advantage of children in the future, they just can't hold a position in the congregation. How messed up is that???? seek2find

Hi, Gary, I guess I was thinking about whether it would help or hurt the "witnessing" effort, not necessarly the Society in a finiancial way. I don't really care about the finiancial thing, but I do care about the future people who my be deceived at their front doors. seek2find

How many remember the 1969 8 day convention?

anybody remember the 8 day 1969 international convention.

i was at the braves stadium in atlanta all 8 days with a sunburn and then wet clothes after the rain storms.

if you were there (not necessarily in atlanta) do you remember anything about it?

Hey Ruth, That talk that Franz gave. Was that the one that just about the time it was over with a Thunderstorm was brewing and just before he released the book there was a big bolt of lightning and then it started pouring rain? Or am I thinking about another year. I went to Atlanta more than once. seek2find
