  For those who use eSword, electonic bible program

  anybody who has used esword, the free, downloadable electronic bible program knows how comprehensive it is (http://www.e-sword.net/downloads.html).

  you also know it doesn't have a nwt module.

  i was going thru some stuff the other day and found a copy i had gotten (can't say where...) a while back and if anyone would like a copy, email me at [email protected] and i'll be glad to send a copy to you to install in esword.

  Reading " Crisis of Consience", What did you Learn, How did it affect you?

  thought this would be good to discuss for the newbies and others just getting out of the witnesses, so they can have their thinking and appetites whetted of things they never knew coming out from under the witness organizations spell.

  i know for myself, after reading this book, it totally clarified what the reasons were for all the control in the organization.

  and i was informed of things i never had a clue that were going on behind the bethel scenes.

  I thought parts of it was a little bit to over documented with all those copies of letters and such. Sometimes it seemed like he must have been planing a departure years ahead of time. Still though, much of what was said is difficult to refute.And I respect him for not stooping to the level of some and just saying anything without caring about whether it was true or who it would hurt. seek2find

  Whether the above is true or not I have no way of knowing, but I do remember a bethel speaker a while back talking about how the society monitors traffic to its web site and how one viewer was viewing from the Vatican and that he had looked at every page on the site, or something to that effect. So it wouldn't surprise me if they did do some tracking here. So I guess if they do they are welcome to report me to the local elders. Just make sure the elders know the answers to my questions before they approach me. We wouldn't want them to start to have doubts because of not having the answers now would we? (GRIN) seek2find

  The most ironic Watchtower quote - proving they are not directed by Jehovah

  there have been many ironic watchtower quotes, things written about others that apply perfectly to themselves.

  this is my favourite as it is proof that the watchtower is not directed by jehovah and not preaching truth.

  true, there have been those in times past who predicted an end to the world, even announcing a specific date.

  NEED HELP finding info on disassociating those who aren't active.....

  dear friends,.

  i need help finding when, how and where i might find that announcement..publication...where the new procedure was not to announce ones as being dfed..but now they were to be annnounced as "no longer one of jehovahs witnesses".

  with that change, it made it so that those who were not active could technically be announced.

  Reasoning with spouses using the 09/07 KM article

  i am still working on my wife, some progress is being made, but it is slow going.. here is how i plan to reason with her regarding the 9/07 km article on "non-endorsed" methods of study.

  feel free to use or adapt yourself, if you are in a similar situation.. .

  suppose that one day a stranger calls the house when i am not at home.

  Hello Uncertain, and welcome to JWD. I don't post here often. I am a life long Witness and I am still in the Organization, so I'm speaking as an insider wanting out. The only reason I stay in is for Family. Here's something I would encourage you to do. Decide for yourself what your personal definition is of the word TRUTH. For me real Truth doesn't change, It's constant,unchanging,eternal. When I compare that definition of the word with the JW definition, I see problems, because of the TRUTH as the witnesses call it is always changing. I read a book recently by a 19th century Pastor CH Spurgeon called "All of Grace", and what appealed to me about that book is that it's still sought out and read by Millions of Christians, today Over 100 Years after it was written because it contains what I consider real truth. When I compare that with the works of Charles Taze Russel I see real differences. His works are only sought out by two groups, either Apostates to expose the error of his teachings, or by the Faith full witness that wants to build an extensive Library of old publications that just sit on the shelf looking impressive. Many witnesses, maybe even your study conductor are not familiar with some of his teachings, especially the emphasis he put on Christ return in 1874, something he believed up to his death in 1916. So my advice to you is continue your study of the Bible, but be sure you are learning what is really in the Bible not the words of men that are ever changing.

  Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

  The above words are from 1 Cor. 13 and they do not describe life in the orginization. Good post Minimus!
