Can someone recommend a good 'Christian' forum?

i still consider myself a christian, and would like to find a forum where good discussions about faith and christianity are featured.

i love the give and take here - and will not be abandoning this forum - i just want to add a dimension to my spiritual thinking that seems missing at the moment.

i do not attend church.

i don't like the fact that at times, false information is disseminated here.

where's the "big announcement in october"???

or we hear that the blood issue will be changed or that something big is going to be happening at the next assembly.

Hello, Might I sugest that just because someone doesn't post again right away doesn't necesarliy mean they don't appreaciate the advice they are given. Some would simply rather Read rather than post. Some also may be limited for time to post and do so properly, some forget their passwords and so on. And then again it's easy for a new one to get lost here in tha many postings. Sometimes I loose track of where I posted. Just some things to think about. seek2find

I need a new bible

i still own my new world translation bible and i really would like to buy a new bible.

there are so many translations out there i don't know which one to get.

any advice?.

You might want to check out the English Standard version, I don't have one yet but plan to do so. I have several translations in my computer in a great program called e-sword amomng the many things it lets you do, is a side by side comparasion of up to 4 translations at a time. Besst of all it's a free download from www.e-sword.net seek2find

Researching the WBTS is painful and shocking

after lady liberty gave a link to the new re-examine site, i found some details that are so disturbing its boggling my mind.. first, the original presidents were voted in, but not one vote per person but for every $10.00 contributed you received a vote.

so those already in power and with much money had tremendous sway as to who got in and who didn't.

this little scheme was not stopped until 1944.. so when rutherford was "elected by a unanimous vote" we can assume it was mainly of his own doing based on money contributed.

DC announcement about Donantions

i just went to the dc and was interested about the announcement that donation checks should be made payable to watch tower in 2 seperate words.

i don't recall this being announced that way before.

with the emphasis on the 2 seperate words.

With the emphasis on the 2 seperate words. It was also said that the convention was arranged by the watch Tower Bible and Tract society of Pensylvania. This also seems different. Anybody else notice it? seek2find

Double Standards

hi all, i've been thinking a lot lately about the chapter in coc where ray is talking about double standards and was wondering how many exist in the organization today.

one, that i've noticed is that employment issues seemed to be addressed differently depending on which congergation you are in.

for instance, in a congregation in one city, a brother might be removed from a position if he goes to work for a fire department or ems service because the shift work would require missing to many meetings, where as in another congergation you may have a respected elder that has such employment and everything is cool.

Nellie, Your husband was probaly right, those brothers were probaly in debt up to their eyebrows. I know several families in that situation today. Their increased activity in the congregation has been finianced by VISA and Mastercard, with bankruptcy in view in the future. Letting your "Yes mean yes" somehow can be set aside in their minds as long as the numbers on the service report keep looking good. seek2find

Another Double standard. Everyone should have jobs like Janitors and such,(unless you in one of the congergations that have more liberal views) but the orginazation need more money. Janitor Jobs and having plenty of money to donate, just don't seem to be compatible. seek2find
