steve2 Ray Franz talked about that article in one of his books and indicated that he wrote it. Later after he left Bethel and was disfellowshipped a series of more strongly worded articles was run in the Watchtower re-inforcing the hard rigid stand that was in place before. It's went downhill ever since. sad. seek2find

Recent article on shunning?
by Shepherd Book inin the past two months:.
-my father (a ministerial servant who continued to associate with me) called to see if i was df'd or da'd.
i told him i didn't "want to do the religion" two years ago, but suddenly he was concerned about my exact standing.

I personaly think God himself is the one that can and will bring it down. It's like the mighty Hindenburg that looks big and impressive. But also looked impressive as it went up in flames, although in a different way. It's coming, and something much bigger than Jonestown may be the results. Let us help all that we can before that day comes. seek2find

Calling Christians who don't
by wobble inthis may be a non-starter as a thread, because of the way i feel.. if you are still a believer in jesus, you may have joined another religion or group,i do not feel inclined so to do,i feel that all organized religion has error in it,and is made by men for men.
also as i am trying to "fade" there are dangers,if i was seen attending.. however,i do feel the need for spiritual association, and especially i feel the desire to share in the lords supper and drink the wine and eat the bread.. any ideas on how to do that without going to a church etc ?.
crazy i know, but that is where i'm at ,right now.

I was told once while I was still in that at one of the latest elder and servants schools that it was stated that a person could loose their position (elder or MS) simply by being in a social gathering along with a disfellowshipped or D-A'd person. It sounds like this may be the reason for the inquiry. Maybe someone has brought it to his attention. seek2find

WT 15th April apostates / new light on miscarriages
by dozy instudy articles have strong counsel against apostates - modern day apostates display characteristics similar to those of the devil.
their mind may be poisoned by a critical attitude towards individuals in the congregations , christian elders or the governing body.
some apostates oppose the use of the divine name , jehovah.

With regard to what the article says about the name Jehovah, I think Ray Franz made a good and valid point in his book In search of Christian Freedom when he said that in the organization today, it would be unheard of for an elder or other mature Witness to write a letter to a friend and not mention the name Jehovah mutiple times. But in the Greek Scriptures in the New World Translation there are seven apostalic letters that do not contain the divine name. (that's not to mention that the divine name doesn't even apear in the most reliable manuscripts for the entire new testament). So I guess if use of the name Jehovah is the sign that your not an apostate, then the Apostle Paul would have to classified as an apostate by the organization for his failure to use it in some of his letters such as the letter to the Phillipians. This is one of the best points I personaly got out of what I read in Rays second work. The lack of use of the divine name in the new testament, even in the New World Translation, is strong evidence to me that the Christian congregation was to put emphasis on the name of Jesus. Paul was NOT an apostate, and neither are those today who chose not to use the name Jehovah. seek2find

I know the feeling. Not only by my sister, but by all my family and my wifes family. It hurts when you see a familiar face at wal-mart and they avoid eye contact with you. When before they would see you from across the store and come over to talk to see how you are doing. And then there is the phone calls at home. When the phone rings, I hardly answer anymore. I know it's probaly not for me. If I do answer sometimes there's a pause on the other end, and then a cold "can I speak to ____ or ____". It's like their talking to a complete stranger. And what was the big sin on my part? Not accepting every teaching of their's. Looking to God and Christ and the Bible as the authority. The winter weather outside is no where as cold as the treatment the disfellowshipped experiance. All I can say, is you're not alone. seek2find

Apostasy Now
by easyreader1970 ini have no evidence to back up what i am about to say.
i have no paperwork, no recordings, no photos, no nothing.
and yet this nags at me.. i have this sneaky feeling that soon the wbts is going to broaden their view of "apostasy" and begin to include people who don't currently fit into their apostate views.. i have this itch that's telling me that, basically, if you present anything negative concerning the truth, you are at risk of being hauled before an elder body and punished for this somehow (disfellowshipping, reproof?)..

I think something will be done sooner or later about inactive ones who have slipped through the cracks. I know of several people who should be disfellowshipped but haven't been, because they drifted away before getting envolved in wrong conduct. It doesn't sit well with the R&F. The "double standard" term is often thought of when thinking of such ones. Something will have to be done to stop the fade and drift process. Personaly I wish the organization would just drop the silliness and just become more mainstream. I doubt that will ever happen tho. seek2find
