Yeap I love being around people. I love being at parties, talking to neighbors, having my family come visit or talking on the phone.
The only people that I don't like to be around are 'negative people'. When I am around people who start talking negative or have nothing nice to say about others....I find excuses to leave! (Negative people drain me emotionally)

went to an assembly this past saturday.
reason why i went cause my mother in law was baptized so the rest of us non believers went for moral support.
it was in the "famous stanley theater" in nj that i heard so much about growing up, my mother was so happy even thou i went, watched baptizm, ate with my inlaws, and was out like a bolt of lightning lol.
JE1234 - The assembly was in New Jersey...isn't it early for the assembly? How many days do they make them now? (excuse me but I have been out for 10 yrs)

that obituary post reminded me of those awful weekday mornings knocking on entire neighborhoods of not-at-homes.
i remember one particular neighborhood in florida where it was one big trailer park of "snowbirds" who would move back up north for the summer.
however, being the thorough jws that we were, we would knock on every single door, leaving magazines, etc, even if the awnings were down and it was obvious no one would be livng there for months.
My husband (who was never a JW) said that when the JW's would come to their door...they would hide and laugh at them.
My mother-in-law told me that she left them in one time and they wouldn't leave and they kept on talking and talking. She said that was the last time that she ever opened up the door for JW's.
Just think....all those Not a Homes were probably hiding and laughing....lol

when you were a jw can you remember things you should've not liked but did?
i was listening to some dowloads tonight and heard "happy birthday" by stevie wonder, i remember going to a big family party when i was a kid, and my uncle who had some dj decks put this one on for me as it was my birthday (none of my dads side of the family were jw) i loved it.......good memories still of this song.. i remember getting easter eggs too, and thinking however pagan they were, they tasted bloody delicious.
better than "ordinary" chocolate bars.
I have to admit that I was involved in dowsing or waterwitching. (I wasn't aware that it was wrong and I honestly didn't understand how the rods moved) At a very early age, I could find water by using rods. Before long, word spread that I could find water and I could tell you how much water was at a certain location. (I could feel the strength when the rods would move and that would determine how much water I found)
People called me who had difficulty finding water in their area and I would usually do this without anyone around. Until one day a sister asked me to come over to her house to find water. I thought that she wasn't home and apparently she was. Maybe it scared her when she saw me doing this??? or what she saw that day at her house. The rods moved so hard they were bouncing off of me. They felt like they were going to come out of my hands.
The elders came to me and asked me to stop because this was 'work of the demons'. Not long after that an article came out in the Watchtower about dowsing.

i wasnt the most academic of children although i had some capability but i could read quite well by the time i was 4 years old at least for my age; i have always read as a child and still read now as an adult both professionally (research) and for pleasure.
i have always been able to write too...and pretty much advanced as well as my peers did in school...perhaps i am lucky, i certainly feel like i am when illiteracy amongst adults and children is rife at present...however.. i remember when i was 16 the wts in the uk were pushing through a scheme teaching those who were not as able to read and write...and an elder in the hall made a point of coming to me and suggesting that i should actually attend the training!!
!....i explained that i could read and write well enough and didnt need to be taught basic literacy... he said that i might learn something new and should respect jehovahs order of things and show appreciation...i did decline his kind offer rather abruptly....but wtf??
When my exhusband left me for a younger women in the congr. he had admitted to me and the elders that he commited adultery 4 times in our marriage. Since he was a MS in the congr. they removed him from his position and put him on public reproof.
I asked one of the elders on the judical commitee, 'why wasn't he disfellowshipped?' The elder told me 'Dee, you need to except the decision made from heaven, through the body of elders.' huh? The decision from Heaven? What, does God talk to the elders?
I can gladly tell you brothers and sisters, that he is now serving faithfully as an Elder in Pennsylvania. The only thing that he has been known to do lately, is drink to much and was caught poaching deer by the authorities. lol

Only certain elders get this treatment. I have seen others who have lots of money or influence with prominent JWs manage not to be removed.
Blondie is so right with this statement. With the KH that I went to, the family that I was married into are very wealth. Their sons and daughters got a way with everything. Money talks!

have you noticed that some people just have that certain star appeal on the job?
some folks have an almost celebrity status while others prefer to stay quietly in the background.
many just are naturally popular where they work.
At my last job, I was a IT supervisor for a large company. I came into the company and tried to shine the brightest and I succeeded very
successfully. However, I will NEVER do that again. You have no time for anything except meetings after meetings after phone calls. Then there is the 50 emails a day that you have to read and respond to. People who come to you complaining and whinning about every little thing. Co-workers not getting along.
At the end of the day, you pay the price for standing in the spot light. If I every work in a large company again, I would be so quiet that no one would know who I was.

well i can't recall now which public talks it was - one of my first - and it dealt with field service / preaching.
so i thought i would interview several people in the congregation about service and their thoughts and feelings on the subject, expecting something very different than what i got.
to my shock (i was an over zealous young buck who thought the sun rose and set on the wt) three sisters burst into tears as they told about their feelings of inadequacy and guilt over field service.
No problem with field service...was a aux pioneer off and on and then did the full time reg pioneer for a couple years. Till this day, I have no problem talking, or meeting people or talking on the phone. haaa My problem is writing skills. I hate writing my thoughts out.
Give me a phone or put me in a group of people and I have no problem....Put a peice of paper in front of me or typing on these posts and I go blank.

I was apart of only two quick builds, it was ok!
But my ex-husband and his family was asked to go to Nicaragua in the 80's to build some building. Since my ex was inactive at the time, his father (who was the service overseer elder) fudged his service time so that he was excepted to go for the special assignment. oops that was a secret and I wasn't suppose to tell that elders lie to protect their sons.

who among us here, when on the freeway does the standard speed of 55mph.
i'd like to say that i'm a law abiding citizen, however......
it's a wonderful thing that many folks wish to follow the rules of the road but you people who don't keep it rolling with the rest of the crowd at 65-70mph are risking a catastrophe.
I use to speed....but since the last judge told me that I am on Probation for the next 3 years and she doesn't want to see me in her courtroom again. I have been a good little girl on the highways!
