oh lordy, at yesterday's botchtower study, paragraph 17 (i think) asked what we personally found "encouraging" about the 2004 stats that are listed by country in the wt.
anyway, someone finally put up their hand and remarked about how wonderful it was to see that ethiopia had a 5% increase......ya, i guess if you're starving to death, who wouldn't want to hear that paradise is right around the corner.
one bro put up his hand and actually mentioned the fact that there was 0% increase in virtually all the industrialized nations, but that we "shouldn't let that discourage us".

most of us have experienced the frustration of trying to convince a friend or relative that the wts is not what it claims: an organisation backed by 'god'.. of course, it is very difficult to prove a negative and a real die-hard believer will explain-away any evidence of wrongdoing by the org.
as they are trained to do so well.. i have found it good to reverse the question and ask them:.
"what would the wts have to do to convince you that it wasn't god's organisation?".
Even the witnesses agree that there is no 100% proof that any religion is God's chosen religion.
I have always asked myself this question. Because of the fact that we are all imperfect, how is it possible to really identify the "one true religion?" If I were catholic, and devoted my whole life to it because I believed it was the right one, would god destroy me in armegedon? I was told it is the ones who knew the truth, and turned it away, were the ones who would be destroyed. But, going back to being imperfect, if we have doubts I cannot imagine a loving god giving up on us that easily just because we are unsure.

was just wondering how long it took other people to post and did they feel guilty?.

Oh, one other thing about the funeal that was a tad bit confusing to me. After it was over, "everyone" including us df'd people were invited to a brunch held a local place. Now, how can they eat with us? Maybe we would have had a whole table to ourselves. Or I guess we could have sat with the worldly people we knew. I didnt go.
since im still new here, i never saved any info or links.. i could get off my lazy butt and search through this whole site, but that seems like alot of work.

Hmm, well there are alot of things I remember, I was born as a witness, and left when I was 18. Back in 1985. Im sure there is soo much more that I have no clue about! But how much I really learned, and took in at that young of an age is probably slim.
- 1874 was taught as the year of Jesus? presence until 1943 (not 1914). Is this presented honestly in the article?
- Did you know that the date was once 606 BCE not 607 BCE?
- Did you know that 1878 was once taught as the last year people were called to heaven as the anointed?
- Did you know that until 1970 the WTS taught that the great tribulation started in 1914 took a hiatus in 1918 to start up again at a future time?
- What about flip-flop doctrines such as who the superior authorities are, whether a woman must scream if being raped, whether people who died at Sodom and Gomorrah would be resurrected, could a JW accept an organ transplant?.
- What happened to the generation alive in 1914 that would see Armageddon come?
- When did the WTS change their teaching that a creative day was 7,000 years long to "many thousand years," a teaching that 1975 was founded on?

It is truly amazing that so many spoke to you. At least they did the right thing!
Yes they did. But what is strange, is that I was just told that none of the family could talk to me by my sister in law. She was the first one to talk to me and hug me. Soooooo I wonder if the whole family talked about this before the funeral. Maybe they all did it for encouragement for me to go back, I'm not sure. Or maybe its just allowed at things like funerals. (personal decision) What ever the reasoning, It felt great.
i prayed and prayed about it.
i figured my prayers weren't going to be answered because jehovah doesn't hear your prayers if you aren't a witness.
i prayed for the witneses to come but they never did.
I prayed to jehovah, the next day the witnesses knocked on my front door. When they left, my son went outside through the back door, and brought in a pamphlet from the mormans. Neither one ever comes here. ???????????
