hotel release day was my fav day of the year, we would always try to stay at the same hotel as our friends hopefully one with a pool. funny story one time we had our convention in canada, well me and my friend discovered that there was a free XXX channel, needless to say we made evry excuse to not go out to dinner with evryone else, ha-ha good times. i would think that nowadays its much cheaper going through priceline, hotwire, etc and maybe the society could get in on the action by creating a group account that evryone uses and the WT keeps the rewards

his poorly manufactured gravitas was most amusing, given the ludicrous content of the letter.. it seems the society is pissed that the friends aren't choosing the "recommended lodging" when going to conventions.

my dad just "came out" recently as annointed and i find it so weird.
he's always been pretty level headed and he's been in for over 30 years.

maybe he is making a run for the GB, lol. he has always been a humble "good" elder, genuinely interested in helping the flock, he has never been a glory hound or anything in fact he never even was PO when I was growing up, not sure about now. i guess my mom has come to terms with it and they both feel that they will still be in touch somehow, not sure if thats 'new light' or something but i don't remember it working that way.

My dad just "came out" recently as annointed and i find it so weird. he's always been pretty level headed and he's been in for over 30 years. i don't get it, why now? i am not really religious so i find the whole idea absurd, especially the explanation that you "just know" or whatever, plus the weird part is that in spanish halls it was extremely rare, i only knew of one growing up and everyone kind of thought he was nuts. plus why would he want to leave my mom by herself for all eternity, that makes no sense. I found out through somebody else and i kind of hope he doesn't tell me because i won't have the reaction he wants, i might laugh or be indifferent but i am terrible at pretending to be excited and i wouldn't want to anyway. thought, similar experiences, do you think he fell off the deep end?

slightly off topic but since the homebrew software was brought up. is that company still around that marketed personalized brief cases, bible holders, etc specifically for JWs. it was mail order back in the day, over 10 years ago, i'd imagine they have a website now if they are still around.

i'm sure there are geek elders that maintain fancy excel spreadsheets, or sql datbases but i don't think there is a WT approved or proprietary software that they run or mandate.

since this is the 100th thread, I thought i might spin it a little differently. How are JWs reacting to the article? Those of you that can speak to your families about this kind of thing. I know those that go on cnn.com read it because they love to read articles that mock other religions but I wonder what they did when they got to the JW part, did they immediately stop reading and go take a bath and confess to the elders, did curiousity take over, did they respond like warlock and say well i wasn't called so obviously this is all made up.

but there is one thing that i just don't understand.
many jw's believe that people who get resurrected in the new system will not get married.

I used to worry about that too when I was a horny little j-dub teenager. what site do you guys think he's talking about? I used to read dang's old site just for laughs, i especially enjoyed when this old grandmother posted, can't remember her name. it was a star trek themed site.

Which meeting did you hate the most?
by lfcviking infor me it was the tuesday night book study.
i didn't like reading, opening/closing with prayers and the uncomfortable, close, claustrophobic setting it was in.
this meeting was the first one to be binned when i started to fade.
