how regretful it must be to strive to free others from a perceived religious slavery and then gradually to realise our 'liberty' and ?reasonableness?
amounts to an enslavement to our own selfishness?
and to discover that we look the same and are just as worthless as anyone else?s little tin gods.

this morning after reading some threads, i thought ... how could god logically expect man to grow closer to him as time keeps rolling further and further away from the miracles of old.. haven't seen a burning bush or nothing in a hot minute.
i mean, those are the things that kept people's attention.
I don't know what God would say. I do know that I am still in the process of ridding myself of JW influence and ideas, but if I heard God speak or witnessed a miracle, I would think it was Armageddon and I would be dead soon. Hopefully, I'll be more positive as time goes on.

this poor guy called adam (no surname) starts his life as the only human on the planet with no mother or father, brother or sisters or grandparents.
he wanders around unaware that he is naked and could do with a little support.
being first is good but it can get lonely.
It always puzzled me that there is no mention in the bible that Eve expressed shock that a snake could talk; even more that she didn't go straight to Adam and say, "a snake talked to me!"

Your description of floaters is very appropriate of myself and my Watchtower wanderings for 30 years. I needed Moses to get me out of the mental wilderness. Fortunately, I stumbled on the INTERNET and instead of finding the nearest convention center I could attend to attempt (once again) to be reinstated, I wandered onto this site thinking this was produced by the Witnesses. Isnt't that funny? And free.

Have any of you been to an Ex JW Meetup? If so, how did you feel about it? I went to one in November, 2004. For me, it was terrible. There were six of us total. None of us had ever met. Halfway into the soul-baring discussions, one of them, whose name shall remain anonymous (because I can't remember it) began a tirade about Jesus. I couldn't believe my ears. He was trying to convert me and one other in the group to "born again Christians". Well everyone is entitled to his/her own beliefs, but when he told me I was going to hell because I didn't accept whatever his beliefs were, I started laughing. Imagine, first I had been threatened of hell by Catholicism; then Armageddon by Witnesses and now....I was being threatened again. I told him I was now happier, and more successful than I had ever been and I owned my own house which was more than I ever had when I was in any religion. How about all of you. Have you had any of this happen to you at an Ex JW Meetup? Any tips for future Meetups?

Wow! I am feeling confused. I have been posting about two weeks (although I lurked on this site for months before getting on board.) Unfortunately, I often feel as Holly does; for instance, when I see Jehovah's Witnesses on the street I feel lonesome. I experience this frequently. However, I have only to log on to this site and remember why I chose to leave the Witnesses. I am grateful I have buddies like all of you who would talk me out of such a decision as Holly made.
I hope Holly makes it whatever she does.

i have only been a recent user of this site.
the other night i explained what it was i was spending time reading online some evenings when my boyfriend is out and tried to explain how it is helping me finally let go of the jw beliefs that i have clung to for so long.
i thought he would be pleased, but he got really angry and now is very difficult any time i try to use the internet at home.
I am new to this site. I stumbled onto it about six months ago. The comments from everyone truly helped free me from the JW's after 30 years. My son so often critized the JW's. Actually, he hated them. But when I was so excited about finding this site and the comments, how happy and free I was, he said I was "obsessed". It's a common problem even among those who are familiar with JW beliefs.
Maybe I am. I don't care, no I don't care.
i hope that those that are jw lawyers get tired of the governing body and quit bethel because of the bull shit theyv'e had to clean up after the gb.
it may be happening right now.
think about it the gb have issued the call for more lawyers to the congregations,, perhaps there is some disloyalty growing towards the gb being manifested in the legal department and the gb needs help desparately.
It's about time. I've worked for attorneys for 15 years and I can honestly say that the opinion that most people have of them is true. I'm still waiting to meet an ethical one.
