Difference Between Catholics and Witnesses
by WTWizard ini have recently seen one thread about the differences between the witnesses and those other religions.
so i will explain some of my earlier experiences as a catholic and contrast them to the witness experience.. my family was active as a catholic when i was about 6 or so.
we had to salute the flag, and we got to play with other children and go on class trips that also made major markers in life.

WTwizard, purplesofa and Sad Emo,
I also was raised a Catholic and converted to Jehovah's Witnesses at 17. No one else in my family ever became or was interested in JW's. It is interesting, the differences in Catholicism and JW's. I had to wear uniforms to Catholoc School. How I hated that! I found the Catholic Church too harsh in its concept of hell, although their tolerance of other religions was liberal. I missed the holiday get-togethers most of all when I left the Catholicism. Of course, I thought it was a much better thing as I was leaving for a material "paradise earth" rather than the nebulous "heaven" of which the only thing I knew was I would be with God--which I didn't want to be anyway. So I took the paradise earth bait from the witnesses and ended up sick from it for 20 years. I haven't been around a Catholic for so long I don't know if the beliefs are still the same, but I still wouldn't want to be one. As of now, I don't belong to any denomination and I am very near atheism.

Lived through Danny H incident / Trevorgate? Do you feel a bit changed?
by nvrgnbk insurely these two events/situations/happenings mean little, nothing even, to those in the real world.. but since we're witnesses( some participatory) to them, they've affected us.. alot "went down" in a relatively short period of time.. do you feel the effects have been mostly positive, an opportunity to grow perhaps?.
or do you feel adversely affected?.
what about any lasting effects( positive or negative) you think they may have on the way ex-jws interact as a community?.

let me get this straight.......danny killed randy and has moved in with the corpse of linda.....trev has maced liverpool fans and has moved in with nvr......who is showing him no attention at all due to his persistence on JWD.....and ninja still hasnt sold his baseball bat Ninja, Believe me, I am as truly confused as your post. Haven't been on the forum for a while and as I was muddling through the Danny Hazzard maze I let a couple of days go by and the news about Trevor was here today which I am trying to get straight. LOL, you have really lightened up the situation with your sense of humor. Thanks.

nvrgnbk,
Thanks for posting that information. I went on the links and I realize how absolutely vulnerable I am. Scary. At least reading how to identify scammers will help me in the future. I never thought it would happen here. It seemed to be the one place there was candid conversation with nothing to hide.

Yes, I do feel betrayed. I haven't posted much in the past months...I finally got a job. I don't post much because I am shy. If this is the same Trevor that has been here a few years (I think his avatar at one time was a secret agent from a British espionage series, can't remember the name), he was one of the first people I chatted with when I first came on JWD about three years ago. Anyway, he seemed so nice he was one of my favorite people. I do feel betrayed; however I also feel redemption in knowing that the hoax was uncovered by those here at JWD so I also have feelings of optimism. I wanted to post my condolences to Trevor but was rushed to work and really felt my words would have been inadequate. Guess I'm glad I'm a retiring soul.
Anyway, congratulations to all here who are now aware of the fraud and not bitter about it. You're a tough bunch. I just can't believe the supposed superiority of Trevor to think he could get away with it with this group. Didn't take you folks long to find out. Who were first to find out? Just curious.

fedorE,
No, I haven't seen the movie SICKO...is it about lawyers? Is it good? I haven't heard of it or read a review about it. I will look in the paper to see if it is playing in my area; if not, I'll check out the DVD's.

I work for one of the most hated professions in the world and justifiably so. I am a legal secretary working for a medical malpractice/wrongful death law firm.
