I saw the movie and I was somewhat disappointed. It was action-packed from beginning to end but I liked Jack Nicholson and Michael McKean's performances better.

The Dark Knight
by XJW4EVR inthere may be spoilers on this thread, so if you haven't seen it yet, don't read any further.. first, i enjoyed the movie.
i think that the reboot of batman was the best thing that could have been done to the franchise.
i love the fact that the last two films are dark, and that the batman literally skates the thin line between justice and criminality.

I love all the ones previously mentioned; I like all of his songs. He is probably my favorite singer/musician. I also like:
1. Wavelength
2. Kingdom Hall (nostalgic and obvious reasons). His voice is very powerful on that one.

How could an ex-Jw become Catholic
by My Struggle ini don't mean this to be offensive to any catholics in any way and believe that they can have true salvation unlike the jw.
also, i know little about the in's and out's of practicing catholicism, as i have never had any interest in being one.
regardless i am always surprised when an ex-jw says that they have found the real truth in catholicism.

I am also surprised at JW's becoming Catholic; probably because I was a Catholic who converted to the JW's. I found the doctrines and teachings of Catholicism burdensome--mortal sins, venial sins, heaven, hell, limbo (I don't mean the dance) and purgatory just to name a few. I never knew any Catholics who were sincere. I'm sure there are, I'm just stating I never met them. I used to be amazed at the things Catholics would do which would be considered very damning and they didn't even worry about getting to confession. It was this descrepancy which turned me away from them. Of course after a few years of being a JW I encountered different rules and beliefs that were just as burdensom. The hypocrisy of the Watchtower did the same thing to me.

apostates at assemblys
by looloo ini was told not to even look at them when i studied, but i did not buy the satan stuff about them and said well what have the watchtower got to worry about if they have the truth and no skeletons in the closet ?
i was quite tempted to speak to them and felt rude and judgemental , what did you used to think about them when you were dubs in the trufff ?

I saw an ad in a newspaper about an an ex-JW meeting about 15 years ago where I met the organizer of this event and we became good friends. I have since lost contact with her. I had been fading from the WT but in my heart I still believed it. There were about 15 people at the meeting and were denouncing the WT, my friend being the chief spokesman. I did not know they were apostates. My friend had been df'd for daring to challenge the denials of an elder who had molested her underage daughter. She was df'd because according to the Committee she suffered from "independent thinking".
The subject at the meeting was about child molestation in the WT organization. I was appalled at what I heard--and confused. I never believed anything like that could happen in "God's Organization". My friend was in a court litigation battle with the Watchtower and the elder individually who had molested her underage daughter. My friend would protest outside of the Kingdom Halls with signs and contact the newspapers as to why she was doing this. It was a lot of publicity. . She went so far as to go back to the many houses where she had converted those to the JW's to tell them it was all bulls----. She and I became very good friends.
My friend was a very gutsy woman. Before she became a JW she used to rescue abused animals: Monkeys from Johns Hopkins where they experiment on them, and horses used for the hucksters here in Baltimore. The horses were sick and mangy looking as they pulled their wagons around the city in hot summertime. My friend's husband was shot to death and killed during one of the horse rescues. So it didn't surprise me in the least that she took on the Watchtower with signs and newspapers and court. I had the utmost respect for her even though at the time I still wasn't free from Watchtower thinking....and as many have already posted on this thread, it was the internet that freed me. Specifically this site. I hope my friend has internet access and one day we will find each other again. She would be elated to know how far from the WT I have come.
