Thanks everyone for posting information on the chats. I have been confused by the issue. I thought it was only the Ex JW's chat room. Thanks for clarifying the matter.

A VERY PECULIAR FEELING (and a pleasant one at that)
by Terry ini work at a bookstore that buys books for cash directly from the public.. we get maybe eighty or ninety people a day lugging in horrendously filthy boxes filled with roach droppings, mold, ancient dust and, oh yes, books.. among these books there is the occasional "find".. but, mostly (and disappointingly) it is 97% garbage.. today a fellow brought in three boxes full of typical dusty and unkempt books to sell his aunt was "getting rid of" that he thought he'd convert into easy cash.. i took his i.d.
and phone number and then looked at the boxes.. they were all jehovah's witness books!
bound volumes going back to the 50's, all the booklets, books, concordance, interlinear, bibles, etc.

I hope I haven't posted this twice. Terry, you made my day with your post. I had a similar experience yesterday. I decided to make room in my closet. I had Jehovah's Witnesses' books stored in boxes on the shelf. Bound books, Watchtower and Awake magazines going back to the '60's. As I watched the trash truck haul them away, I felt sad, like I had lost something. I had kept them so long. I had always rationalized I was keeping them for reference to dispute their present claims. However, I think at the bottom of this was this nostalgia that maybe Jehovah's Witnesses were right and in time Jehovah would correct their thinking. But, I threw them away. As one of my schoolteachers used to say, "good riddance to bad rubbish."
Reading your experience helped me to feel OK about it. I am glad I did it. Glad you did too.

Your Most Boring Job...
by misspeaches inever worked in a job that literally bored you too tears.. my job prior to this used to do just that.
somehow i got relegated to the 'reports team'.
note that the team consisted of one person - myself.

My most boring job was in the legacy and endowment department of a huge law firm. It was all this money donated by millionaires that would never reach the poor who really needed it. It was sent to Israel, other countries and agencies that were already rich. I would fall asleep at the computer.

Jehovah'sJudgement dot com
by sf inhttp://www.jehovahsjudgment.com/ i found it here: [ http://perimeno.ca/index_a.htm ].
a terrible calamity may be about to befall us, jehovah's witnesses, in the near future.
our entire organization could be laid desolate - yet we are totally unprepared for the possibility.. .

Hi LouBelle,
This was a good topic. I am also new and I enjoyed reading all the posts and now have a more composite idea of all the people who post on this board. It sounds like you have a interesting job. Glad for you. it's not easy to work a job you like. I have been a legal secretary for about 10 years now. I really like it, including the pressure of deadlines for court documents, etc. I don't have any job skills other than computer typing from dictaphones for attorneys. However, i am recently unemployed (not to worry though, I am receiving unemployment benefits). Technology has replaced my job with what is called a "dragon system." It is a voice activated method of speaking into a microphone and what you speak is automatically written on the screen of the computer. Although an expensive initial investment, the firm no longer has to pay my salary or health benefits. I am trying not to be bitter about it.
When not working, I am an artist. And, that is what I would like to do as a living. Although I make little money with my art work, It is the heart and soul of me. I love it. The Witnesses' ignorance of art and their hideous portrayals in the Watchtower magazines and books is what finally helped me in leaving the organization.

Boy do I understand! I smoked for 25 years. Nothing worked for me but the Nicotrol Inhaler (nicotine inhalation system). It is a small white inhaler shaped similar to a cigarette that you can deliver the amount of nicotine you need at a particular time, so keep that in mind if the patch or gum doesn't work. However, it is expensive and ony by a doctor's prescription so you would need one from your doctorto get it. For me I found the hand to mouth habit helped control the craving. I quit for two years. tt kept my nerves jumping out of my skin to a minimum so I could function. I have read that nicotine addition is harder to break than heroin addiction.
I wish you luck in your endeavor. I hope you succeed, but if you don't, do not beat yourself up over it. Most people fail on their first try. Regarding relapses...it is harder to quit after you have relapsed because you are aware of what you will have to go through.

The Tacoma Narrows Bridge Not Destroyed By Demons!
by Swan inwho hasn't seen the infamous black and white film footage from 1940 of the tacoma narrows bridge waving and twisting before finally collapsing into the water?
last night on the history channel they were examining an airplane crash from the 1950's and telling about how the engineers determined that there was an aerodynamic anomaly for the crash called "flutter" and that these principles of flutter were also in affect when the tacoma narrows bridge collapsed.. i thought back to when i was a child and saw this famous footage on "you asked for it" and my grandmother had us switch the channel because it was demons that were making the bridge twist like that.
i believed it for a while and was scared to death whenever that footage was replayed on tv.

Boy, I just had some great laughs reading the posts. Of course, I didn't laugh when I was a dub and threw away most of my clothes because I had bought them in a second hand store and the dubs told me I was having problems because my clothes were demonized! I laugh a lot now.
