No, John, I am not religious at all now. I was raised a Catholic; went to Catholic School. Left Catholicism thoroughly disillusioned at age 14. Met Jehovah's Witnesses at age 17 and went down for the count. I was d'fd and faded back and forth until finally in February, 2005 I found this website and never and don't want to go back to JW's. I never had access to the internet previously. If I had, I would have found out the truth about them before and saved myself a lot of heartache. I am not religious and have no interest in religion now. Any religion repulses me. I don't know if there is a god or not. If there is, he can find me this time. I looked for him long enough.

Still religeous?
by John Doe ini'm curious how many here were witnesses.
for those that were, what are your current religeous affiliations?
i'm still evolving, but currently i consider myself to be a cross between an agnostic and a deist.

9th Wonder
I am not certain of this but I believe Rambaldi is a JW that posts on this site. I hope one of the posters out there who are more knowledgeable than I will inform you.

Do you think Apostate info (books, sites, etc) slow growth or speed exit?

Yes to all of the above. I believe it is primarily because of access to the internet that is bringing in the newbies. Had it not been for internet access I would not be here posting but would be forever tortured by my doubts. When I first came on this site I realized that this was the truth I had been looking for. A way out of the WT prison. I recognized the truth in the posts and was flabbergasted by it. I could not believe there were people who had left the WTS and were happy. It had alway been the Witnesses' story that all who leave were miserable like "weeping and gnashing of teeth". I have never read or heard anything apostate, nor would I have when I was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. I lurked for a long time because of shyness. Some innocents that get on this site unknowingly can be ripped to shreds by the wit of those here.
I'm happy I found it.

donkey, I feel very sorry for you. I went through the same thing that you are going through now, my faith being shipwrecked. I pleaded with Jehovah for years to clear matters up for me. I never received a response. However, in my confusion, I got on this site instead of the Jehovah's Witnesses site. Then, everything was clarified and I had peace. (I'm not being sarcastic--I don't think)

Recycled Topics.
by Blueblades inhave we reached the saturation point?
are there any new topics on life and death, evolution, creation, god etc., or are we just recycling these kind of topics?
i know that as each new person comes aboard, they may ask the same questions on topics that have been talked about here over and over and that's very much needed for them.

Don't Try To Convert Me
by LouBelle inon saturday just past went to an open flea market, browsing around, looking for things to buy, goodies to eat and the like.
passing a religious books stand, i just stopped to see if there was anything worth reading.
noticed something on the flood but didn't take it as it wasn't anything substantial.....so the chap behind the table asks me if i read my bible.....i started feeling nauseous from then.

My sentiments exactly LouBelle. I empathize with you. I have had similar experiences where these religious people will not take no for an answer. The last time it happened to me was at the only Ex JW Meetup I ever attended. Unbeknownst to me and one other ex witness there, it was three other people launching a tirade for for us to become born again Christians or we wouldn't be saved, going to hell, blah, blah. I left in disgust.

"College, oh no!" PT 1-New guy here
by theundecided2004 inhello everyone, i have been keeping up with posts on this board for about four years now, been a member for about one year but have never had the courage to make my first post.
so now i'm going to make that first step to get rid of that fear i had of betraying myself, and vent my experiences and frustrations with this faith.
i think this board will be a good way for me to make acquaintances of people with similar feelings that i have regarding the jehovah's witnesses, as well as a good outlet for my frustrations as a jw, and get some advice as to maybe getting a reasonable exit strategy in the near future.

willyloman, thanks for that informative post. I didn't know there were privileged areas. I believed all of Jehovah's people suffered tthe same.
