I like it because it gives the intelligent, intellectual and anger management folks here an opportunity to express themselves. Mostly I like it because it gives me a good needed laugh.

I think those of us who leave are special in many ways
by JustTickledPink ini had the opportunity to have lunch with an old jw friend of mine recently.
it was quite surreal.
i have forgotten the absolute depression and control they feel.. whereas i am happily yacking away about the improvements in my life, college, job, etc... happy marriage, going on vacation ... blah blah blah.. she says how she's still married but unhappily but she is waiting on the 'new system' and sorta chatters on about how 'bad' this system is getting, etc.

Joelbear,
Can you give us some insight as to why you think the bible is right and how you feel about it now?

Immersed in Negative Anticipation
by 95stormfront inis it just me or is their a direct correllation between how deep someone is immersed in "da troof" and how much they are in anticipation of negative things happening to bolster the wt case of the end being so near?.
i've just got off the phone with my wife, for the fourth or fifth time today, hardly been able to get any work done, and i fear she's turning into a news-hound.
every conversation was about the latest developments of the hurricane in no, some volcano about to blow up and cause a tsunami capable of wiping out the eastern seaboard, and now it's the blackout in la and how it may be the work of al queda.. doesn anyone else with a jw so find it exhausting to listen to so much negativity?

Every disaster, even miniscule events become cummulative in the JW psyche to validate the time of the end prophecy. I have read the possibility/probability the "Pay Attention to Daniel" book that Iraq is the king of the north.

You know, Witnesses haven't cornered the market on being wrong.
by free2beme ini have been out of the witness religion since the 1990's and i see from reading former witness sites that it is common for people to do something i used to do.
which was that i made a big deal out of all the wrong things the witnesses did and do.
i thought it was some how my responsiblity to tell others when i had the chance, and even when i made the chance, about all the things i knew.

Why do people need to tell everyone that the WTS is wrong
by Lady Lee ina problem arises when a person leaves or is booted out and slowly discovers the real truth about the wts.
there often is an intense sense of betrayal.
it can be traumatic for many people.

Good topic. No one except my best friend knows that I was once one of Jehovah's Witnesses--and I don't tell them. I have not had an opportunity to tell anyone that the WTS is wrong except on this board.

How many exJWs are now pagan? Why?
by Sirona ini was just wondering how many exjehovahs witnesses are now pagan?
of the exjws i've met, quite a few either describe themselves as pagan or pretty much have "pagan" type religious views.. i wonder if it is a backlash against the control of the jws - to choose a religion which has "no rules" as such.
also, is it rebellion?

Is anyone here still expecting/hoping the Kingdom will come one day?
by JH inmathew 6:9. you must pray, then, this way: .

I wish it was true. Sometimes I believe it. Most of the time I don't.

I can be a Jehovah's Witness and fight fires at the same time...
by TresHappy inmike davis, firefighter.
bank one forest park (3:05 p.m.): it may be less than a foot square, but mike davis and fellow forest park firefighter julie stanley work the smoldering patch of mulch as if it could turn into a full-fledged fire.
they till soil around the tree and douse it with water until the smoke stops.. it's a non-emergency response for engine 42. with no sirens or flashing lights, it's excruciatingly routine.

I don't know how to respond to this. The man sounds like a genuinely nice person. Wish he would get on this forum and find out how to really help people--escape The WBTS.
