Jehovah's Witnesses' theory of 607 BC ireminds me of The DaVinci Code's convoluted symbolism and mysticism. And, both are works of fiction.

Watchtower Gives Up Explaining 607 BCE Date!
by VM44 inthis is a very important observation, that the watchtower has not tried to explain in print why 607 bce is the year for the destruction of jerusalem for the last 17 years!!!.
all that the watchtower has done over most of the last two decades is to repeat over and over the year "607bce" in its publications as if it is an unquestioned fact!.
the last time an explaination for the year was attempted by the watchtower was in 1988 when the "insight" volumes were published, but since then, no explaination for the validity of the year has appeared in print.. this must mean something, but what?

A Story and A Little Bit of Grattitude
by MrsBee ini never was a jw, went to kh a few times as a teenager, didnt feel comfortable with the things said, alot of my associates as an adult were brought up witnesses, but ya know, were pretty much disowned by their families as adults because they chose not to be jw's.. my husband is a d'fed jw, i knew he had been a jw, but it didnt even cross my mind that he would go back to them..
well, a couple of months after we were married ( around september of last year) this guy started calling our home asking him i guess to come to the kh.
i flipped out, i started not talking to him, i was very emotionally distraught over this matter, and then i went from being sad to damn mad, and i would just ignore him, because in my mind i saw this as as something that will break up my marriage (my feelings on that havent changed) while searching the internet trying to find things to change his mind about this religion something great happened, i started reading the bible and just in general started to feel better as a person myself and how it was ok for me to feel how i felt, because i felt like i was bamboozled because as much as i love my husband, i would have thought differently about marriage if i knew he was going to become a witness again.

Welcome Mrs. Bee and keep us updated. Your story is like mine except I was the Disfellowshipped Witness and my husband had never been a Witness. He also refused to accompany me to the Kingdom Hall. He said he would not go to a place where people would not speak to me. My husband died 10 years ago. I held on to my beliefs until I discovered this forum.

Being on the lower socio-economic scale, I bought most of my clothing at Goodwill and thrift stores. I was told that these items of clothing could be demonized because the person who formerly owned them could have practiced occultism or been Catholic. So, I ended up throwing most of my clothes away. Of course, none of the JW's offered to buy me new ones.

Frannie, my favorite song of all time and always will be is "So Lonesome I Could Cry" by Hank Williams. The lyrics are positively haunting. And, I absolutely loved Mr. Big Stuff. Possibly Donna Summer recorded it? I can't remember, either.
