Apology to all
by wozadummy inthis is an apology to all for my recent posts, i did'nt mean to upset anyone .
just coping with leaving the org ,and the past ,and trying to support my wife who, as some know from my prevoius posts has tried to deal with her pedophile elder(past) father for many years now thru the org ,and then being badly treated by them and her large extended family (most are witnesses and are trying to silence her), made me hit rock bottom.
we are now taking action via the police and court system and she is barely coping ,and me being bi-polar does'nt help matters much and i fell into to an unreal state for a while as we don't have much support of any kind.

Called for Jury Duty
by frankiespeakin ini'm what you would call a unpatriotic, and a free thinker who doesn't agree with the judicial system in california.
i've been called for jd about six or more times and every time they never use me because i make it very plain that i don't and won't play be thier rules when it comes to jd.
usually i'm the first one the prosecutor dismisses because of my free thinking unpatriotic point of views that i make known as soon as i can.. i think our prisons are over crowded because of the states eagerness to inprision people, for things that i can never agree with.

I for one hate jury duty! I have been summoned for jury duty every year for the past 20 years. I only served twice, however I am summoned every year. I live in Baltimore City so the crime rate is very high. Consequently, there is always a demand for jurors. One was a criminal case which was emotionally draining and the other was a civil case which was so boring. Two huge businesses fighting for money.
When the verdict was read during the civil case the jury members decided quite arbitrarily who would receive the victory award based on their style of clothing. I was quite dismayed by our judicial system. All the other times I was summoned but didn't serve I reported to the Courthouse which was always hot in the summer with nothing but a fan for cooling. In the winter it was underheated so we kept our coats on. We have to stay the entire day in discomfort whether our names were called for jury or not. So, I consider it a major inconvenience--especially since most jurors do not take it seriously. I don't feel qualified to render a verdict for guilt. Don't want the responsibility. Call me a slackard, but that's how I am. I realize that if I were a Plaintiff or Defendant I would feel quite differently about it. Maybe I feel as I do because I am a legal secretary and know what goes on behind the scenes.

How do the JW's interpret the mark on the right hand and forehead and 666?
by JH inand it puts under compulsion all persons, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free and the slaves, that they should give these a mark in their right hand or upon their forehead,17and that nobody might be able to buy or sell except a person having the mark, the name of the wild beast or the number of its name.18here is where wisdom comes in: let the one that has intelligence calculate the number of the wild beast, for it is a mans number; and its number is six hundred and sixty-six.. in these few verses alone, they talk about a mark on the right hand and forehead, as well as not being able to buy or sell without that mark, and finally the number of the wild beast 666.. after studying the revelation climax book a couple of times with the jw's, i still don't recall a clear explanation for these verses above.. if we are so close to the end, wouldn't they know what 666 means by now?

I am limited in my knowledge of this; however, it was explained to me by the Witnesses as having the mark of the beast on the head means that a person mentally endorses the beast. Likewise, the mark on the hand means a person in some way works for and supports the beast. The number six -- being a number applied to mankind means it is imperfect and 666 (three times meaning emphasis) means it is emphatically imperfect.

AK-Jeff. Thank you so much for clarifying those issues for us. For a while there I began to doubt my sanity. I have been known to drift into a Witness fugue mental state when confronted with these issues.

Thanks, Rebel. However, I am still confused. It has always been my understanding that World War I began in 1914 and World War II began in 1939 or thereabouts. I wish some scholars would get on board and clear this up. Either my thinking capacity is greatly diminished by my association with the JW's or it is a misprint in the 1963 article, which I hope that is the case.
And, I also do not understand the difference in the eight beast and the eighth beast. I thought they were both the UN. Not that I could ever make sense out of it let alone try to explain it to a non-JW or even a JW at book studies. .

According to history, it was when World War I broke out in September of 1939 in spite of the existence of the League of Nations, which had been organized after World War I in order to preserve peace and make the world secure against, at least, another world war.
'Scuse me all. I am terrible with history and I could never make the mental leaps required to absorb and understand the mental gymnastics involved in the WT's interpretation of the scarlet colored beast. Please correct me if I am wrong (be kind) but didn't World War I break out in 1914--or am I as confused as ever from reading Watchtower publications? Thanks for your indulgence.
