The last few times I went to assemblys and DC's I sat with my friend and we realised just how silly all the clapping was. We used to sit there and prepare ourselves for the pauses indicating people should clap, clapping for songs, clapping for prayers, clapping for experiences, clapping for baptisms. By the end of each one everytime there was clapping we would be killing ourselves laughing...

Frog's first semester Uni results are in!
by Frog ini realise this is probably quite a dull subject for all my friends here, but this frog can't help but to share her happy moment, cause she's just bursting at the seams with self-congratulatory praise!.
i just logged on to the uni website to get my long awaited semester one results.
i knew i had done well with my essays, pop quizzes etc throughout the semester, but i attributed that to the fact that i had weeks to fine tune my writing and research.

Why you naughty little frog! Don't you know about the evils of higher education? What would the WTBTS say if they knew about this? Fancy leaving the borg, getting a higher education, doing it successfully and being happy! That's just not allowed!
Seriously though... Congrats darl!

Wife is pretty much done!
by mkr32208 ini haven't been here much for the last 6 months or so because... (drum roll please) my wife has pretty much called it quits!
she's not been to a meeting now in over a year!
(well she went to visit a gung-ho friend for the weekend and went to one sunday) no service in at least twice that long!

I went a bit crazy when I stopped going to meetings etc too. All night parties, drinking excessively you name it... This happened for me when I was 27/28 and I began behaving like a wild teenager. The good news is I got it out of my system and it didn't take that long. One thing that really helped me was that I met my boyfriend who knew my past and stuck by my side. He tells me sometimes still I am like a little kid but is so good about it. It reminds me that I am in fact 30, to try and put my past behind me and just behave in a balanced way. I mean I still have fun but try to cut back on the stupidity/silliness whatever you like to call it. I couldn't have done it without him.

Okay this one wasn't at the KH but it was out in service.
I was about 17 or 18 and we were working in a pretty hilly area. The driveways tended to be very steep. So here was I this boiling hot summers day trudging to the top of the driveways, getting the standard not interested and delicately making your way back down the driveway again.
This one driveway was made up of some sort of pebble and clear stuff to stick it all together, quite fancy and up the top the householder watched me coming up whilst watering their pebbles. I gave him the standard presentation he gave me the standard not interested. In the meantime the Field Service group had gathered at the bottom of the driveway waiting for me to finish. (Discreet bunch in my neck of the woods). I turn to walk back down the steep pebbley clear soaking wet driveway and slipped... all the way down... to where the group were waiting. When I got up my modest skirt was now ripped to shreds and immodest in ways never imagined. I had to carry my book bag behind my bum and walk all the way back to my car.
Ah the hazards of field service.

Need clarification on communication with a disfellowshipped person
by jostes inwas wondering the clarification of a relationship someone can have with their mother if they have been disfellowshipped and the daughter is in good standing with the congregation?
the daughter was baptised after the disfellowship.
does this mean the daughter is not to have a relationship with the mother.

Hi Jostes - and welcome!
It's a little bit of a gray/conscience area... Technically if you are a Jehovah's Witness in good standing you should have limited contact with disphellowshipped or disassociated people. You should not discuss any spiritual matters with them under any circumstances. There have been articles printed by that organisation stating that if you share a house with a disphellowshipped or disassociated person than of course you would maintain contact but not the spiritual stuff. Some families like to apply this princple to family members who live outside of the home in this position also. They choose to maintain contact but not of the JW type.
Hope this helps.

Good to see you jumping in the pool straight away! Some people like to lurk for a while other people just like to get right on in to the thick of things. I hope you enjoy meeting people in a similar position to yourself.
I think all our American and British friends are mostly tucked away in bed right now so the board is a little quiet but theres a few of us hanging around!

its 10 past 2 in the afternoon... only 4 more hours and its hometime! I'm gonna go home, put on my winter pyjamas watch Neighbours and just chill... Maybe have a nice glass of Cab Sav while I'm at it....
There once was a time on a Thursday night I would rush home, have a shower, grab some dinner and rush to the book study...
I like my after work activites so much more now!
