  Is College now wrong for Jehovah's Witnesses again?

  i have been out of the jw's for many years now but i still have devout jw's family members.

  and i am attending college now at 40 yrs old working on my ba degree.

  i was so happy a few years ago when my jw mom told me that the wt is slacking off on telling jw's teenagers that college is bad and it is ok to attend college and universities.

  Hi There Booker!

  Yes evidently they are denouncing higher education again. Some people here have been to this years District Conventions and the drama is aimed at the evils of higher education and this theme is reoccurent throughout the entire 3 day program.

  I guess they don't have to worry because they provide no financial help to their members so they don't give a hoot if these people end up old and with no money to live reasonably. All they care about is that people spend more time selling their books door to door then going to school.

  hey all i used to read posts where people have found out they have lost loved ones and were never told about it nor the funeral.

  last week my mum called me up and said "by the way sister such and such passed away last week the memorial was yesterday"!!!!

  i used to be close to this sister and for those from australia might even had known her or heard of her sister isabelle sewell married to ted sewell, they have been living in bethel for over 10 years now.

  Assembly in Salt Lake City

  my wife is going to the assembly in salt lake city over the 4th of july weekend.

  anyone here condemned to that one?

  i heard they are going to have huge fireworks display to celebrate the 4th and.........well, maybe i didn't hear that.

  I'm giving plasma tomorrow!!

  well actually i'm giving the whole bit, plasma, platelets, while/red cells...for the first time and i'm very excited!

  sounds very massochistic, but it's not for the love of pain, it's just that it's taken me so long to become mentally ofe' with it.

  i've had a mental block about it for so long, but have gradually enabled myslef to overcome it by educating myself more fully on the subject.

  Well done on taking such a big step. Its something I have been thinking about lately has they have been having blood drives around town. I feel inspired to do it now.

  I signed up to be an organ donor a couple of months ago also. I told mumsy that I was signed up which was controversial for the poor JW thing (maybe she missed the new light on organ donation) but it makes me feel good that I am making my own descisions and following through on them!

  i just spent some time reviewing the brothers and sisters on the jw connect website.

  with all the advice witnesses have received for the past couple years on internet dating and chat rooms i'm surprised that the site is still up and seems to have a lot of posters with many of them very recent.. i came away with the following impressions.

  first, it seemed that the majority have a full-time job and either went or are going to school (by their age i think that means college).

  Yes a friend of mine in the U.S. joined up with this very site you mentioned and met a 'nice' JW boy and they hooked up... for a bit of casual sex not a relationship. She did this another time again. No one was ever caught because they had no way of connecting them together. The internet allowed them to maintain their secrecy....

  So hows that for a story!?!

  Ozzie is in hospital again.

  i received an sms last night from ozzie himself saying on saturday he collapsed and had to be taken by ambulance to hospital.. he is being operated on again this morning (wednesday 29/6/05 australia time).

  as usual with the particular operation he is having there are serious risks.

  i ask his friends to send anything positive his way today.

  When Someone does something so special and they don't have a clue....

  it makes me cry.. for instance.

  i was coming back from a funeral this weekend.

  it was a long 10 hour drive and having had such a cruddy two weeks and especially day before prior, it was quite a shock when my travel companion pulled over in miama ok of all places and insisted we see loretta lynn.

  Theres lots of little things isn't there...

  Like the person who gave me a cheery wave for letting them into my lane the other day.

  Or my neighbour who came to let me know that while we were away she parked the 2nd car in our driveway to make it look like someone was home.

  Or my lovely boyfriend who reaches out to me just to say he cares and loves me at just the moments i need it without any prompting...

  You poor little thing. I think we can all relate to feeling in the depths of despair but some seem to have it worse off.

  Know that you have a lot of support on this board and there are lots of people in your very own situation who are more than happy to be your friend and a shoulder to cry on should that be the case.

  Personally I have always enjoyed reading what you have to say. You express yourself so well and what you have to share always appears so well thought out.
