Who told them it was THE TRUTH???

after reading the article in sept 1, 2005 watchtower i was again astounded at the hypocrasy.

and the question came to me - who ever told this religion or the people that started the religion they had they truth - it's a matter of opinion surely????.

how do they know it's the truth - they wouldn't be able to answer.

some jackass was one day sprouting off in Crooklyn HQ. He was relating some highly convaluted story that no one else would believe to some fellow bethelites. "Its the Truth! Its the Truth" he yelled out. Some visitors passing by with the tour guide heard this amazing declaration. They rushed home to their congregations and relayed what they heard. And the message was relayed throughout the ranks of the JWs like wildfire. Eventually this new idea got back to the head honchos at Crooklyn and they began incorporating it into their propoganda.

And that is how the expression 'The Truth' came about.

Going to Church for the First Time Alone

i usually go with my boyfriend to his church, but i felt the need to explore this without him.

so since i liked his church (church of christ) i decided to find one in my area to attend.

i was a really nice experience.

Well good on you!

You have the freedom to make a choice, you made it and followed through on it. Be careful, trust your gut but don't let people criticise you for doing it. You are your own person and know if you have spiritual needs or not.

I am glad to hear you enjoyed the experience.

I'm not at all surprised. The amount of squawking that comes from JW Upper Management makes it entirely likely that they are feeing their parishoners bird crap.

2006 Special Convention only for a select group to be delegates

it was announced that for the 2006 int'l convention overseas, only pioneers for at least 15 years or elders for atleast 15 years are allowed to be delegates.

has there always been restrictions on who can attend?

i can't remember as it's been so long ago.

What I can judge from past experience is that the International Delegates have a VERY important responsability.

At an International convention held in Sydney some years ago we had a lot of Japenese ladies arriving in traditional dress. Well what a lot of talk this generated. 'Wasn't it looooverly to see them in their traditional dresses' and 'do you think they still bind their feet' and so forth and so forth. I missed the Friday and the Sunday (alas alack) but one of my friends made sure to tell me how I had missed something great on the Sunday afternoon session. Turns out the Japenese delegates had all sung a kingdumb melody in Japanese no less. My friend told me 'everyone was crying because it was so beautiful how Jehoba unites us' yada yada yaday.

Not a single mention of anything theocratic...!

Pastor's Meeting

i had been an elder until walking away 3 years ago.

That is excellent that you are doing that. A lot of pastors and minister have no idea how to deal with ex JW's. Especially when it comes to explaining their doctrines on trinity hell etc... By helping these pastors to understand you are helping them to help others... Well done!

Family tragedy.........HappyDad

got a phone call from my daughter who lives in florida a couple of hours ago.

her significant other who i chose to call my son-in-law (because he is the best thing to ever happen to her) got a phone call that his 6 year old daughter was killed in an auto accident near lake placid, florida and his 5 year old son is in very critical condition.

the ex wife is also critical.

I've been running into them on a weekly basis lately. They still stop to say hello until the realise I haven't been to a meeting in around 2 years and then they flee.

Who can and can't a JW sit next to at the hall?

there are so many unwritten laws, but most witnesses know when it's wrong to sit next to someone.. name a few cases, when it's ok to sit next to someone, and when it's not ok?

My old flatmate would refuse to sit on the end seat. She said she felt like it was not a sisters seat... WTF?!?!?! I didn't give a hoot either way but sometimes I would force her to sit there because of the stupidity behind her reasoning.

Is it OK for a Religion to change doctrines and beliefs as time goes by?

i say that if they are inspired from god, they shouldn't have to modify their beliefs.

I think the way the JW's flip flop around on their doctrines and beliefs is appalling. And it is insulting to God to say that he has given them new light. Effectively they are saying that God didn't give them the right info to start off with.
