id JWs RIP you OFF in the MARRIAGE Dept.?
by Ms. Whip inthis photo (taken from a jw group on aol) is quite typical of jw marriage matches.
don't get me wrong, i'm sure they are great people as far as jws go.
but, it made me think.

I see what you are trying to say Ms Whip. I agree. I've seen some JWs marry and when you look back at the wedding photos you don't see the genuine happiness, the love radiating between them etc. Its really sad.
And I can't help but think myself lucky that I never did get stuck in the same situation. -

WT desparate: Aug 15 WT- In Our Next Issue: When A Loved One Leaves Jehovah
by truthseeker inno, i don't have this article yet, it will appear in the sep 1, 2006 wt.
it may even be a wt study article.. in the august 15 watchtower, the box "in our next issue" has three forthcoming articles, and one of them is "when a loved one leaves jehovah".
of interest, it's not when a loved one leaves the society, it's jehovah.. will keep you posted.

Shame on them. Another tool in their emotional blackmail kit.
I can just envision how this is going to affect my mum. I think reading/studying an article of this kind is going to make her feel so low and depressed.
What is the point of these articles. I bet you there will be nothing upbuilding in it for 'those affected'... -

Looking to hear your Service horror stories.
by Stealth453 inmine.... i was about 10 years old, working with one of the pioneers in our hall, and we came across a gentleman that screamed obcenities at us and threatened to kill us unless we left his porch.
i wet my pants.
the pioneer i was with told me that i was a 'weak little witness that brought shame to jehovah for wetting my pants,' and that my punishment would be finishing out the morning's service with wet, piss stained pants.. it was february in toronto.

Going to visit my return visit, quite an elderly lady. She opens the door stark naked much to my horror. I just left the mags and got out of there quick smart.
Another time, same return visit. I knock on the door and she doesn't answer (highly unusual). Something tells me all is not good. I knock again and faintly hear some noise in the house. Peering through the window I see her lying sprawled out on the floor! We (my friend and I) attempted to get in but the place was all locked up. Eventually we called the ambo's and they contacted the fire dept who broke into the place. Turns out she had been there all night long (middle of freezing winter). That was a terrible day. The good news is she recovered. But I think that was the only time I was relieved I went in field service. -

You know what made me wanna puke was some years ago when after a Watchtower study the elders decided they were all 'glorious ones'. Seriously.... They loved it and for months afterwards in talks kept referring to the body of elders as the glorious ones of the congregation. That's humble isn't it!
Also heard something very similar about the new scrolls myself.

Dub email exchange r.e. Crackdown on outside food in D.C.
by ringo5 ini for a while discounted the reports that suggested there were stern warnings against bringing in outside food and drink into the conventions.
but this email exchange from a few of my relatives concerning tim horton's coffee, which is a basic staple for the dub ministry in canada, shows that they don't mind adding any more regulations to their already extensive list!
(so far, i'm still on their email list) .

They (the WTBTS) are not happy unless unwritten laws are being circulated amongst the drones. Classic example.

What does the Bible Really Teach?
by RainbowMonkey ini just have a querie about this book my jw freind gave me, its called "what does the bible really teach" i started reading and i found the first few chapters ok but further on in the book it seemed logical but just doesnt seem right, the best way i can describe it was kinda hypnotic, it just doesnt feel right... the other thing in the book i noticed was when it says "as you learn more from the bible, you may find that some well meaning people wil urge you to stop such studies.
they may worry that you will change your beliefs.
but dont let anyone stop you from forming the best freindship you can ever have.

Hi Rainbow monkey and welcome. First of all can I just say you are extremely astute to have picked up on that point and made an enquiry about it.
The Jehovah's Witness religon discourages any active association with anyone other than themselves.
Additionally don't you find it at all ironic that they use a book about what the bible really teaches? Isn't the bible on its own sufficient? -

To all the mothers on JWD...
by misspeaches inanyone who has been raised as a jw will most likely be able to relate somewhat to this.. my mother was bringing three children to the meeting and had an unbelieving mate.
