Hard to pinpoint...
My last meeting was supposed to be the same day as DamselFly's last meeting funninly enough!
I'd been doing the great fade... progressively of course. Stopped going to bookstudies. Started going home at half time on Tuesday nights and Sunday mornings. It had been about a month that I hadn't been to a meeting.
My friends invited me to come to their place for a meal before the memorial and we would all go together. So I didn't feel uncomfortable walking in and people wondering where I had been recently? They were kind people, in their minds they were being very sweet.
And so I felt like I didn't want to let them down. I went to their place for dinner. It came time to leave for the memorial. And I decided there and then that I just couldn't go. All of a sudden Stubborn Miss Peaches showed up. And refused to go along. I felt awful for letting them down at the time but I literally couldn't go.
That should have been my last meeting. -

Don't Like Your Avatar, Don't Like You!
by bigmouth insome time ago i attracted some really agressive responses that surprised me because i had no intention of offending so i had to learn a lot about how to word things on this forum, smiley faces etc so others would know i was pulling their leg, but i oftened wondered if a posters nickname or avatar puts you off instantly??
you know, first impressions.
i would think someone like satanus or mouthy would be intimidating but miss peaches was as nice as pie and this thinking might reflect how i would reply.

Big Mouth that is one of my fears. That I might say something that could be misread entirely and I'd end up offending someone. In fact sometimes I have done that and thanx to PMs been able to ammend the situation.
I've also found that people don't understand the aussie & New Zealand senses of humour either. I guess it goes both ways.
If I didn't have those smiley's to rely on who knows what chaos might ensue!
On to your question though....
I don't judge people by their avatar's usually. If I do its incredibly rare. I really enjoy reading what others have to say. I like to try and digest it and understand their point. But I have a passion for reading anything! Even if it is the back of the milk carton... LOL
P.S. as nice as Peach Pie?? :o) -

OMG Spray Tan Disaster !!!!
by Sirona innow i wasn't going to share this, but i just have to!
i can't tan (had melanoma skin cancer) so i decided that for the long-awaited bbq on saturday i'd treat myself to a "spray-tan".
for those of you who don't know, its false tanning where you are sprayed with the tanning all over and it lasts about a week.. what a disaster!.

oh no you poor thing! Just wondering - did you exfoliate thoroughly before you went for the tan? Sometimes that can result in a streaky result. I'd say it was orange though because they didn't have the mix right...
And they call them selves beauty consultants!!! -

A mentally disabled girl in the cong almost 30. She used to proposition all the brothers for sex. She had spent some time in a group home for disabled people and learnt all sorts of naughty things.
The brothers doing mikes would walk past her and she'd say "i'm going to f*** you!" and other colourful expressions.
One day she grabbed a girl about 15 years old and dragged her around the hall in a vice grip yelling out to all and sundry that the girl was her child and the love child of the presiding overseer. -

Hi Joe...
Your poem rings so true to me... I remember feeling like that so many times myself.
I'll smile and you won't see the hurt
That cuts me deep inside
I'm just a few more specks of dust
That hits the hardest.... -

This is a really good question that is really difficult to answer...
Its taken me a long time to find out what it is I am really passionate about. Any interests were very quickly squashed as I was growing up.
I know that I would have liked to be in the band but that was a no-no.
I know that I would have liked to go to university and study something. Become a specialist in something...
I also know that I would have loved to be able to do something arty...
The band thing, I'm over that now. I still like musical instruments (guitar and piano) but I haven't practiced properly on them for years.
The education thing, I think I have found something I really enjoy. Okay nerd warning. Records Management. It matches the OCD aspects of my personality perfectly! I'm getting a real passion for it.
Arty? I've been practicing painting and have two peices of work I really love. I want to do more. I am also really enjoying scrapbooking too.
