But even after Russells death, Rutherford too still continued to teach it was designed by God. What changed their mind was new light, but not from the faithful & discreet slave, but from the discovery of King Tut's tomb. Right up to that point, the Watchtower was openly scoffing those who claimed that pyramids were used as tombs for dead Pharoahs. New light - just swap God for Satan as designer, after a few decades no one will notice.

Here are just a few of a thousand watchtower quotes. They have ALWAYS been wrong about the last days, why sould that suddenly change now?

1877 'The End Of This World; that is the end of the gospel and the beginning of the millennial age is nearer than most men suppose; indeed we have already entered the transition period, which is to be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation Dan. 12:3." 1879 "Christ came in the character of a Bridegroom in 1874.... at the beginning of the Gospel harvest." (Watchtower, Oct 1879, p. 4)
